Army Vs. Marines

hi big jim

i just asked my folks, and my mom said he is a master mason, third degree she believes.
evil queen, why couldn't q jackel tell me this himself, why did you have to become involved?
btw what part of my post did you delete, i can't figure out what was dropped?
steve
p.s. my statement still stands, before biggles, or anyone knocks a group like the shriners, go see them, and see what they do.

Because...

..contrary to what JoBelle and a few others believe, I'm NOT on here all the time! Whenever there is a Mod-like problem, whichever of us is "closest" handles it...as for the deleted sections, they were remarkably similar and vulgar and there's no need to go back over them at this point. Suffice it to say I deleted the appropriate portions of both, reminded you both that we have certain guidelines in the TMF and went on my way. If I had insight of a factual nature I might have interjected, but I don't, and so I once again fade into the background until needed, which is my function. Nuff said? Q

nuff said?

no not really.
how about a statement from your mods., that insults about a group such as biggles did are also not tolerated?!?!
as part of my nurses training i did a rotation at the shriners hospital here in chicago. there were children there from all over the world, along with their parents. the families weren't charged a penny for the surgeries, and care rendered to those children, and if they parents couldn't afford it, they were put up at the hostel for free, and all their air fares were paid for. and do you know who paid for all this? the shriners, and masons! did any of you know that when you are a shriner you have an anual dues? they figure out how much was spent on the hospitals, charities etc. the previous year, and divide that amount by the # of shriners. if you wanna stay a shriner, you gotta fork over the cash! doesn't sound like a bunch of "assholes" to me. i thank the gods for such people, and so do the kids at the shriners hospitals!
steve

Why did I get involved??

areenactor, I moderate on this forum at the request of Myriads. That's why I got involved. I owe no one but him any explanation for my actions. If you don't like them, take it up with him.

Evilqueen

Dearest Steve...

can't we be best buddies again? I made a bad choice of words, please accept this gift basket of finest silks and spices from the far east. Don't make me come over there and hug you.

:grouphug: :justlips: :redheart:

Remember, it's all fun and games til someone loses an eye. Look before you leap. A rolling stone gathers no moss. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

I just called... to say... I love you :Kiss2: :lovestory

Come to Australia and let me buy you a beer,

Biggles

biggles

i don't care about silks, or beers (never thought i actually say that).
what i want to hear you say is somthing along the lines of "i'm sorry, i was speaking from mis-information, i didn't know the truth."
be a man and appologise.

evil queen, i wasn't questioning your right as a mod to act. i was questioning why it was you and not qjackel. he explained.

Let's wait until we see the evidence from his literature, before we decide whether it's mis-information first.

By the way, I think what you said was a very good idea Steve. I'd love to go and see the Masons and look around as I'm an incureably curious person. I even heard Jim Davidson saying that they were great and he'd encourage anyone to join. The problem as I see it, is that not just any old knobber can stroll into a lodge and interview a Freemason about their practices, or ask for a membership form. Part of the induction is that every member's first loyalty, before God, Country, Corps, self, family, country etc is to the brotherhood. I think I'm also correct in saying that they're pretty keen on security about what they do. Tell me all you cabn or want to, because this is the first time I've ever spoken to a TMF member who knew something about it.

I also have some stuff somewhere that appertains to this subject. I'll have to dig it out..............

Like Jim said, I believe I'm not speaking from mis-information because of what I have read.

I said that I made the wrong choice of words, I think that's as close as I will go to an apology until I can get my reference. I can't apologise just because you think something is wrong. I think what I said is right, so I'm not going to say sorry for it. You'll hear from me when I get my book back.

I think this has all gone far enough now, kiss and make up. :justlips: Besides, wait til you see the silks in all their finery before you decide against them. They'll make you a beautiful kimono or smoking jacket to wear around the house.

Biggles

PS, looking forward to your apology for calling me an asshole 😉 Be a man...

biggles i'm sorry i called you an asshole

now where is your appology for calling my grandfather an asshole??? remember it was you who started with the profanity here.
i told you about the charity they provide...wait, i only mentioned the hospitals, there is even more that they do. but instead of my telling you, why don't you take the time to ask them? why not get the goods from the horses mouth, instead of reading it from some hack book? anyone can say anything in a book. another idea for you; they are a licenced charity, if i'm not mistaken. there for they have to file financial statements with the government. here in the u.s. those records are open to the public. why not look it up? see the ledger, see how much was taken in, and how much was given out. or are you too chicken to learn the truth.
frankly, i'm done with you, and this thread. i'll delete any notices i get. if you decide to do what's right and appologise for the insult to my family, e-mail it to me.
lacking respect, steve

about time this ended... talk to you when I get my book.

Love Biggles

oh yeah, and I never called anyone that name. I said I've heard the shriners act like that when they get together. They might be great people, but act like jerks when they get together. All this could have been averted by reading more carefully 🙂

big jim

just talked with my folks again (they think i'm nutz to bother with this). anyway, my dad says what you've been told is a lie. in fact in the initiation you have to swear a belief in god, and allegence to your country! so no masonary doesn't demand that it's members renounce their loyalty to your home country, or to renounce god. hell the big eye thats in the mason symbole is the all seeing eye of god! does that sound like a group like what you've heard?
next, my dad said to just go into a masonic hall and ask them anything you want. they'll be happy to tell you. they'll respect that you took the time to ask, instead of listening to drivel like poor misguided biggles does.
also, yes you can join. there is nothing to stop you, but you. ask for an aplication, simple as that. masons doen't recruit, you have to seek them out.

he just can't resist me, keeps coming back for more! Do you have anything to say now that I've pointed out that I never insulted your grandpa?

lots of love and kisses to my favourite GI Joe,

Biggles

Ah, I didn't say they had to renounce their loyalty to god, country etc. I said that their oath of loyalty to the brotherhood took precedence above all else.

Are you really saying that an unimportant civil servant can walk off the street and join a grand lodge of The Scottish Rite? I find that amazing. As far as my knowledge makes me aware, you might be able to ask, but you can be black-balled at any time. I hope you don't find that offensive or close minded of me to say, but I find the idea incredible that anyone can just stroll in off the street, speak to the local Lodge Master, and become a member.

again jim the answer is no. you do not swear loyalty to masonry over god and country, honest.
yes, you can just stroll in and ask to join. if you dress nice, and don't curse, and promise not to drink all the beer at the family picnicvs, you should have no trouble joining a lodge. black balling only can happen once, at the time of voting to accept you or not. really, in these times of low membership you shouldn't have a problem.
keep in mind that the lodge master may be out. but there should be someone there to talk with, and you can always ask when he'll be there. why not do it, what's stopping you?
steve

Well.................I did it. I leave for boot camp in the summer of 2003, and hopefully if everything goes right................Ill be a MARINE!! 😎

So what is the best way to locate the local lodge and master? I've had a shunt round and sadly it isn't advertised too widely.

Kick ass! Good for you SI, I'm glad you did it.

shinning ice

why the delayed entry?
and jim, did you ever look into joining the u.s. military, since we talked on this thread?
well jim here in the states they are listed in the phone book under masonic temples. you could also contact the chamber of commerce. they will more than likely have a list, or know some one who is a mason.
tell you what, what city do you live in, i'll see if i can't find a name for you.
steve

Re: shinning ice

I called the US Embassy again and asked to speak to the DA, like you said. I didn't get to speak to him/her, but did speak to some sort of PA type person. He told me that to join any branch, I had to already be a resident of the US. Not necasserily a US citizen, but permanently living in the country.

As to your second question, I live in Andover in Northern Hampshire. (South of England.)
