I'm influenced by anyone who is unique, stands out from the crowd, and lives life by his/her rules.

Some of my choices would be:

Salvador Dali
R. Crumb
Miles Davis
Duke Ellington
Quentin Tarrentino

OH.......and the great Joss Whedon!

Drew

for music, would be the monkees (never was a beatles fan.. i go for the underdog)

as an art student i was greatly influenced by the work of m.c. escher mainly for his optical illusions and attention to detail

yet i work as a children's illustrator, which has no optical illusion and little detail, so go figure!

I'm inspired by pretty much any type of music, provided it's good... As far as visual art, let me start my list with those I can think of off the top of my head...

Andrew Wyeth
Eduard Dulac
Arthur Rackham
Charles Vess
Frank Frazetta
Sam Kieth
Terry Moore
Salvador Dalí
Norman Rockwell
Winsor McCay
N.C. Wyeth
Jamie Wyeth
M.C. Escher
David Wisniewski
Jeff Smith
Gil Elvgren
Alberto Vargas
George Petty
Hugh Hefner (Who says living life isn't an art? ...and he has something of a man's masterpiece, there -- wealth, women and happiness, presumably. 🙂 )
Jack Kirby
Bruce Timm
Al Hirschfeld
Chris Chua
Genndy Tartakovsky
Brian Froud

That's all for now...

Ive always been a huge R Crumb fan, love those big leg girls in his comics. Did you see the R crumb movie from a few years ago? I had no idea he came from such a disfunctional family!!
I really liked Quentin Tarantinos "Kill Bill" that was a movie that said alot about strong women with Uma Thurman as the quintessential house wife with a violent checkered past, totally off the wall shit but very pro feminist.

hurrah! they were just a fun group. Since i was about 5 i had a huge crush on Davy and up until i was about 12 thought he would fall in love with me just cuz i was shorter than him! now he's old, but i just live in the 60's still

Poppet, don't feel bad, I tend to live in the 80's 😀

Patricia Kaas. French singer. She sings of many truths in life. Drama.

The go go's. Yes 80's, but their music was fun! Head over heels - my fav.

i can't make up which decade to stick with. maybe i can combine the two

i love 80's fashion and that tends to be my style now, mainly cuz it means i get to make my own clothes.. but don't worry, i haven't made anything as hideous as andie's prom dress in pretty in pink

the end of that movie still makes me mad!

Davy Jones was sort of a teen idol in the 60s girls loved him and did you know that Belinda Carlile of the Go Gos was tickled on the Howard Stern show? If you look hard enough you will find a clip here in the mainstream clip section. Jane Weilden (Go Gos Guitarist) was sitting on the side lines cheering Howard on as he tickled Belinda's foot. I really wished he got Jane instead lol !!
