I heard the fire department and rescue were on stand by just in case his house burned down from his blazing cake, and that his relatives were at the ready with fire extinguishers. But I can't confirm that. What are sources near you saying?

Sounds like Clover Mites.Do you find a lot of them on the window sills?

No,they don't hurt anything,just annoying.Don't squish them,it will stain as you found out.Try to vacum up as many as you can.The rest will not live long inside the house.

I'm going to assume you have a yard?Standing water is the problem if thats the case,or at least a part of the yard that is slow to absorb water.Let me know if i'm correct and we'll take it from there.

the stoop is always damp it leaks a bit it's all brick and cement as the sills are but yes there is a water problem there. They don't come out like ants in quantity but there's enough to be annoying. ants are another prob I don't know where the nest is but if dry dog food is on the floor they seem to come out of nowhere. I seem to get all the pain in the ass bugs and they are not termites I know what they look like. yes I had them too once.

Ok,the source is right around the house then.Don't let grass or other vegetation grow up onto the foundation.And keep the grass mowed short.If you want to try taking care of it yourself i recommend this site.

A lot of this stuff is the same thing a pest control company would use.As far as the ant's,you need to find out what kind they are.Baits are the way to go in my opinion,but different species are attracted to different types of bait.
