Ask Me Anything, the Bella Questions... :-)

What's the best advice you've ever taken?

At one time I was having issues with the fact that I have 4 very different career goals I want to achieve in life, and none of them really go together. A dear, dear friend wrote me this:

I think it was Lena Horne that said something recently about how at 90 something, she's realized that a lifetime is really a collection of lives. That you're a person at 17, a completely different person at 30, different again at 45, so on and such. So if you find yourself saying 10 years from now "fuck this I want to take up underwater basketweaving" that's okay... and doesn't invalidate your success/choices that come previously. It's possible that what was right for you five years ago or what is right for you now may well not be in another ten years, because YOU will be different, and therefore it will make sense that your desires and goals will be different too.

It's become one of the most important touchstones in my life, I read it at least once per week and it always eases my mind 🙂

Wow. That is very good advice. 🙂

Some kind of chocolate I can't get in America, that would be worth breaking my low carbing 🙂

Consider it done. I might even gift-wrap it for you. In cling film.
'Cos British chocolate wrapped in cling film ain't nothing you've seen before, right? 😀

What is the stupidest thing you've done because someone dared you to?

Hmmm... now that I think about it I don't believe I've ever done anything stupid on a dare, I don't tend to let people dare me into stuff even when I was a kid. The dumb-tarded things I've done were all my idea 🙄

Well that's what I'm gonna ask next. 😀

What is the stupidest thing you've done on your own free will? 😀

Hmm...how to pick from such a plethora of idiocy...I'd say allowing a 'friend' to move in with my family without knowing NEARLY enough about them. Didn't end well, but I learned a valuable lesson

What do you consider to the most valuable thing you own, when you were a child? A teenager? And now?

As a child, I'd say my 1978 Barbie Dreamhouse and my Black Barbie with the afro, both were awesome and much-loved and would be major collector's items now...as a teen definitely my ridiculously expensive Sony Walkman; I had a VERY long commute to school and I was a loner, I simply wouldn't have survived without my Beatles and Monkees cassettes and that Walkman (I remember thinking Auto-Reverse was SO technologically advanced LOL). Now? My wedding ring; it's not very expensive (when you marry at 20 you have no money, ha) but it represents my union with the best friend I will ever know. It's only been off my finger twice in 16 yrs, and then only because my hands swelled *badly* from being pregnant and I wore it on a gold chain until after the babies 🙂
