Last year, City Council announced that Calgary's major roadway reconstruction projects will include plans for 'beautification'. Instead of concrete barriers, the city began seperating opposing lanes of traffic with a central island dotted with potted flowers to 'liven up' our major thorough-fares. The intention is to attract tourists and break up the monotony of the concrete jungle.
Initially, most of the opposition revolves around safety, maintenance, and practicality.
😱However, it became apparant that the colourful flowers distracted our already inattentive drivers, and certain species of introduced flora quickly overwhelmed our local plant life.

Nonetheless, our city council view the outcome as 'successful' and are determined that the new flower is resilient enough to utilize exclusively in ALL the roadway planters.

As a concerned citizen, I ask the Vorpal Bunnies for their input into this debate: "Is there too much violets on the median?"
