The Star Trek films are the same way to me....

But Lucas, as the writer, knew! Couldn't he have written this in some way that it was less gross and creepy? Like, avoided it all together... something!

Besides, "knowing" you are brother & sister doesn't mean anything..... Riff Raff and Magenta knew.... in Tromeo & Juliet, Juliet & Romeo found out they were brother & sister and said, "Sheeew, we've been through too much to quit now!" and stayed together. In the movies, anything can happen!

And I think it wasn't Jar Jar that caused all the trouble in the universe. Take a look a t the bad moves by Obi Wan & Yoda. They cannot see a Sith guy right in their midst even though he's a politician and can't be trusted. Then Yoda, who's Padewan turned to the dark side AND allowed a green and fresh Kenobi to train Aniken, he sends a horny, inexperienced prideful Ani on a delicate mission with a horny, prideful senator/queen. Brilliant!

Besides, that blue guy with horns in Palpatine's office, he suggested that someone call for a vote to give power to the senate leader. Jar Jar was simply tricked by Satan!

FINALLY!!!
I didn't want to read this thread until I saw the movie. I really really really really really really HATED the last SW flick so I wanted to give this one a chance before I read whether or not it was better or worse in others' opinions.

I saw it tonight. AND....I have to say I liked it quite a bit. Sure they could have done this or that a little bit differnt....but who cares? It was a good movie with cool effects and Yoda kicks some bootie. 😛

I like Star Wars as much as the next person....maybe even a bit more as I bought and read Timothy Zahn's books 🙂 but I didn't go into the movie looking for realistic adaptation. I went into it wanting to hear the next part of the story and see some nifty things on the screen. It happened, I was pleased, and I can't wait for the next episode.

well quite frankly, I haven't seen much of anything in the original trilogy to suggest that Vader was anywhere near a master of the lightsabre anyway. His moves were slow and all power, probably because of the enhanced strength from his armor and implants. He generally fought with the Force more than his blade (like Dooku, he had a penchant for chucking things at his enemies).

Look who he fought in the original trilogy... an over-the-hill Jedi master and his rookie son who rushed off to play hero before he even finished his training. I think Maul would have cleaned Vader's clock if the two ever squared off. All Vader had on his side was ruthlessless and cunning, which Maul would have developed more if he had survived.

That's true Phin, but no-one looked like a very inspiring swordsman in the original trilogy, not even Luke. The fights were'nt choreographed as well, they were much slower and even Luke deflecting blaster bolts on Jabba's barge didn't look right because the special effects guys didn't match blade and bolt up closely enough. The fighting was always going to be more spectacular in the new film because fight scenes have evolved so much more in the last two decades.
