really? so f#@k, c0ck, sh!t c#nt and a$$hole are okay but when I call and idiot an idiot I get banned, priceless! this site sucks!

If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all.



This doesn't mean that people can't disagree with other people, but it does mean that everyone who wishes to post here is required to go out of their way to make sure that they are being constructive and positive. We are a forum, a place for discussing ideas, and anything that doesn't contribute to the business of doing that is unproductive and unwelcome. Just because we have freedom of speech in the United States, doesn't mean that anyone can say anything they want while the Senate is in session.

The TMF requires a similar level of decorum from its users, and we are always in session. Intelligent disagreement and debate are encouraged and welcome. Simple negativity is not. For example, if you don't like a story, saying why is encouraged and welcome. Saying that it's "lame" is not.

And to get this out of the way in advance, yes there is censorship on the TMF. Posts that do not abide by the Golden Rule, in the opinion of the administrative staff of the TMF, will be removed and people who frequently make such posts will risk having their posting privileges revoked.
 
for the record I am always positive until provoked and today I was tame in comparison. you need to set up a system where women don't get bombarded with pms as soon as they enter chat.

My regrets that you had a poor experience upon the site.

However a direct insult directed against another member can result in a ban from the chat room or an editing of a post on live forum. The reason being such actions are inflammatory, and lead to further fighting and issues that are unproductive.

As to the bombardment of PM's in chat, that is sadly a function of how the software works. You can always simply close any PM windows that open, and place ignores against the senders and will not be troubled by them again in that session. There is little that can be done to stop them coming, as the software offers no solution to that.

If you provide a screenshot of a PM window in which you clearly request to the sender that you do not wish contact from them, and they continue to speak to you, we will take action with bans for violation of your wishes.

thanks for the advise, but I've been banned so I can hardly take snapshots. a little late on your info. I don't want to get those charming guys banned, best they stay on your site and I go elsewhere, safer that way.
 
If people report these 'charming guys' they wouldn't keep bothering everyone. Unfortunately, many users would rather hash it out in main room than go through proper channels to report someone. Mods can't act on what they don't know / see and as far as I know they can't see private messages.
 
If she truly was banned just for calling someone an idiot, then there's a problem of selective enforcement of the rules. I see much worse name-calling than that nearly every time I go into chat. People might reasonably infer that we have a high tolerance for that sort of thing, only to be blindsided by a ban when the mods decide it's time to step in. If we want to be fair in our moderation, we have to be consistent.
 
There are so many 'idiots' in chat, I don't have the time or inclination to do that unpaid job. Also, I am a grown woman and I don't appreciate your condescending attitude.

Mods can't be in the room 24/7. They are not paid. They are human beings with lives outside of the forum, unfortunately. I feel they do their best with the software provided and the limitations, but I guess we could just not have mods and let it be rampant trolling madness in there.

I'm in there pretty regularly and honestly can't remember the last time I've seen LD in there, but meh.

Also, the OP was warned and kicked and continued to call another user an 'idiot' before actually being banned.

I was calling you an idiot for kicking me out when the room was packed full of verbal abusers. did you kick everyone else? you should have!

I don't understand why you are a mod with your narrow minded views and opinions. maybe the problem lies in the mods and not the users
 
I mean it's unfortunate for the forum that there can't be someone to monitor the room 24/7. But the mods are not paid, so obviously they have jobs and lives outside of this website that they can't be there to deal with every petty argument in chat.

I did not see any other abusers in chat and things quickly settled down after I banned you.

You keep admitting to calling me and another user an idiot and you see nothing wrong with that. You chose to behave the way you did versus reporting users or just plain ignoring them. You were the only one acting out in the main room. I don't understand how that makes me narrow minded for banning you, but you're free to have your opinion. I guess it's hard to act maturely when someone is bothering you on an internet chatroom.
 
If someone provides a negative attitude and environment within the chat that constitutes a punishment. If people would spend time going through the process of providing the necessary information to the mods to handle the other people whom are verbally abusing anyone, then there wouldn't be as many as you claim there are. They act on what they see and what they've been shown via proof. Your words mean nothing when you're already acting out the role of the type of person they're aiming to remove.

And yes, Annie and all the other mods are human. Moderating the chat is not a priority for them, they wont be there every single time something goes down. Which is why someone mature should provide them proof of such negative encounters if they were harmful to another users (or their own) experience. If you can't be bothered to provide that, then block the people that are bothering you and continue with your time in the chat. If you can't be bothered to even block these people, perhaps it's not as bad as you're making it seem.

If you have to make threads about being banned from a fetish chat room for what you're interpreting being banned for as you simply saying "idiot", perhaps you're not mature enough to be here in the first place.
 
for the record I had him and half a dozen other users on ignore. I have been in chat every day for the past couple of weeks, I am used to it, and today was tame in comparison. I call it how I see it, and having a mod hiding behind anonymity, booting people without warning, that's idiotic.
 
I didn't boot you without warning. And after the boot, you were still able to log in to call users 'idiots'. It was the continued rule breaking after being warned and kicked that got you banned.

I'm always up for user views on how to improve the chat room.

Feral, what would be your solution to the situation you encountered that led to your outbursts that eventually thru a chain of events got you banned. What would you do?

Keep in mind that I have limited human resources to deploy, and the software that I have to operate with is also limited.
 
I would get rid of private chat, it's a public chartroom. The fact that some random person can speak privately directly to another without permission is a real issue on this site. I have nothing private that I wish to say to a troll.everything said should be said in the public room. if someone knows someone in rt and wishes to talk privately then surely they can message each other of pick up a phone. I have no desire to have privacy with someone I don't know.

then I would get rid of annie as a mod, the chain started with her singling me out. she seems intent on getting into it with me, but i'm over her petty jibes and feel ultimately she has done me a favor.
 
Just throwing this out there, but there is a feature where you can choose to ignore all
private messages. I've never used it, but there is a way where you can just change a
setting so that if someone private messages you, you won't get a pop up or any kind
of notification.

Right, you have to "turn off PCs" every time you log in. The chat does not save your settings.

Also, many users do not like this option as it is an "all or nothing" type of setting. You can't turn off PCs for certain people unless you put them on ignore, which again resets every time the ignored user logs in / out.
 
Yeah, the reason I never use this feature is because when I do pop in, sometimes
I have friends who are there and they'll PM me, so I don't want to block or ignore
them. I just ignore the strangers I don't want to talk to. The cool thing about the
current chat software is that it tells the other person when you close your window.
Can't get much more of a HINT HINT than that, lol.

Not for nothing, but if you compare the TMF chatroom to some of the other fetish
chatrooms out there, well, it's pretty easy and mild. Try the CollarMe chatrooms
sometime if you ever want to watch your faith in humanity be singlehandedly
demolished in a matter of minutes.
 
We can only observe what's going on in the main room. If you are being harassed and treated inappropriately in private, take a screen shot and report it to one of us. Taking the matter into your own hands and lashing out at others with name-calling is both pointless (Nobody on the internet is EVER successfully changed for the better by someone else's name-calling.), and takes away any credibility you may have had, because you end up looking like a trouble-maker. Life is full of similar examples, such as this one. If you feed a troll, you're the only one who loses.

Long story short, sorry to hear you were being harassed. However, that does not excuse you from exercising civility.
