Best Songs of the 80's

Daryl Hall & John Oates - Did It In A Minute (1982)

Crosby Stills & Nash - Wasted On The Way (1982)

One of my favorite bands of the 80s was Nena. Known in the US as a one hit wonder, but the group (and later on after lead singer Nena went solo) had other hits in Europe.

This was the song that made the group well known around the world.

This was the follow up single in the US to "99 Luftballons". It flopped, I wish it had been a bigger hit.

So, does anyone else besides me remember freestyle?

Freestyle was big from the mid 80s to the mid 90s. While there were a number of places that had high concentrations of fans (Florida, NY/NJ, Texas, California, some New England cities) there were a number of freestyle acts that had national hits on the Billboard Top 40 charts.

Freestyle was a blend of Latin rhythms with dance/pop music. Freestyle also seemed to have a large share of girl groups that found success. This group was Exposé.

Another freestyle girl group, this one named Sweet Sensation.

The performance is at the beginning of the video, and it ends with an interview.

Georgia Satellites - Battleship Chains (1986)

Par Benatar - Looking For A Stranger (1982)

Know the tune and the US version of the LP very well (played the hell out of that record back in the day - still have it in my closet with all my other vinyl). But damn, haven't seen that video in 36 or 37 yrs since it got very brief play on MTV at the time. One of my favorite cuts on that LP was "Das Land Der Elephant" (however you spell it) off the German vocal stuff on Side 2.

So, does anyone else besides me remember freestyle?

Yep, remember Freestyle well. Honestly I was not a fan of it. Though, Expose I never really thought of as Freestyle and did dig a few of their club and pop crossover hits. For dance music in the 80's I swung more towards the High NRG and Eurodance, which were more or less synth based off shoots of the late 1970's underground Disco sound, which I am a huge fan of.

Crosby, Stills & Nash - Southern Cross (1982)
