what's your most favorite video game intro? i'm always a fan of the good intro movie.

to this day, my favorite is still the intro to Quake 3 Areana. i can watch it 100's of times, it's short but sweet, with Sarge totally kicking ass.

from what i can remember, a few other favorites are the battlefield 1942 intro, and the battlefield 1942 secret weapons intro.

those are all i can think of for now.

btw, my favorite intro music is in the Quake 2 intro. i've looked for years, and i just can't download or find the intro music, or video clip of quake 2 anywhere. can someone help.

i have the clip for quake 3 arena intro, but it's very good quality and 158 mb. i might trim it and see if i can split it wich hacha so i can post it for people to see.

Katamari Demacy. A bizarre-ass intro on crack with dancing pandas and rainbows followed by a king asking "Does the prince like vibration?"

Mechcommander 1's. Looked like a full fledged scifi flick.
Wish they film something like that.

Onimusha 3. They used the live people to do all of the combat, plus the visuals were absolutely stunning.

speaking of mechcommander, i loved the mechwarrior 4 intro, it did look like a good sci-fi show.

Vengeance? Yep. Better than Mercenaries.

The intros from Mechwarrior 2 and MW2 Mercs were good too, but a bit crude.
Mechwarrior 3 used to have a nice intro, even if I got to see it only a couple of times.

[Got to get it too late, after MW4... never quite got the hang of it...]

Final Fantasy 7. Not so much because its particularly dramatic or anything, but it was just the first intro like that i had ever seen, so it has a lot of nostalgic weight to it whenever i watch it.

I think Metal Gear Solid 2:Sons of liberty for PS2 had one of the coolest intros i've ever seen. It's hard for me to believe the things people do with the limited technology and more importantly during the time at which they are made.

Another game that should turn heads is Final Fantasy 8 which displays realistic looking models when compared to it's Predecessors. Although many of the new aged video games are really cool looking, some of them fail to live up to the hype that they create.

yeah, all this talk makes me wanna re-install a few games and play em for their intro...

great news, i was able to split the quake 3 intro video clip and post it here. it's splitted with hacha, which is included in the first file. you'll love it, it's very cool. well worth your time and patience.

I would say the beginning of gran turismo 4. It starts out slow with opera music play while showing off the Ford GT in different locations and then the race cars line up to race and a sign spins around labeled "1st gear" and Van Halen's Panama starts playing and the race starts and engines roar. Its almost like the start to "days of thunder". It's awsome

I love the opening for Legacy of Kain: Defiance.

The actor's voice (Simon Templeman) who plays Kain is just seething with barely contained menace, and yet has the cool intellect of a chess grand master.

"Given the choice between ruling a crumbling empire or challenging the fates for another throw, a better throw against one's destiny...what was a king to do?"

Great opening movie.

Right on gamer, that intro is awesome, Samanosuke's movements are fantastic, it is one of the best I have ever seen. I also like the one from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, it's not really an intro, it's actually the final stage from the previous game of the series, Castlevania: Bloodlines, but I liked the concept(plus it helps with the story of the game for those who didn't play bloodlines).
And, my alltime favorite is definetly the intro from Worms II, it was great, it had a bunch of intros, and they alternated, every time you started the game a different intro would show... oh God... I suddently have an urge to play worms...

not sure about it's intro, but right now, i'm hooked on playing Postal 2. it's a great stress reliever and very fun to play.

other great games with awesome movie sequences are:

Tribes: Vengeance - awesome gameplay, and the singleplayer keeps you on the edge of your seat, with an awesome storyline and great dramatic plot. i think it's the best storyline in a game ever.

Aliens vs. Predator - always keeps me on the edge of my seat, just love playing it.

Doom 3 - awesome gameplay and graphics, and the ending sequence is great.

Yeah, I completely agree. I am a huge fan of Castlevania, I grew up playing the series on NES, and I've been hooked since. SotN has got to be by far the best Castlevania game out, I was so hooked, I played for hours and hours until I finally beat the castle, both normal and reverse, which took forever to get the 201.1 percent, lol.

One of my favorite games ever!!!!!!!!! I have played it around 15 times already, but just writting about it made want to play again, and guess what, I am... LOL... I also have Dracula X, which is the japanese version, and here you can get up to 212%, it is pretty much the same game but with a few extras(the menus are the same as for the Castlevania:SotN and the item names are in english so you don't need to know japanese to play, which is really good cause I don't speak japanese, and since I have played it so much, I already know the whole story line)...

I agree with Norm.

2004 was better.

I liked the intro to half life. Its very calm, you go through the lab and everything is normal, you look to the left as the g-man passes you by-your like who is that. Then you try the teleportation experiment and everything goes wrong from there.

i normally wouldn't call that an intro, but that was very cool.

Yeah, I never got a chance to get it for SNES, considering the cheapest you can find it, is like 70 bucks on ebay. But, I did some work on my psp and put a snes emulator on there, and that was one of the first games put on there, along with Mario RPG of course, Super Metroid and Super Punch Out, lol.

Mario Rpg was awesome, my fav character was Geno... And super punch out, I still play it sometimes, it is a really hard game to beat, the first circuit is easy, but from there on everything starts getting uphill...
