Best video game intro?

nessonite said:
You can do that?! Oh man now I totally want one...
Oh shit yeah, lol. I got a NES, SNES and Genesis on there now. I'm honestly working on trying to get a PSX, but I highly doubt it'll work, considering some games need r2 and L2, but it's worth a shot. I got the program, and I can send it to you, if anybody wants it. Although, you do know the rules with Emulation. And I completely agree, Geno was the best in Mario RPG, lol, although it was fun getting to use Bowser. Oh, and Super Punch Out is easy. I should have the record for it, but since I couldn't record what I did, they wouldn't except it. I have 200 wins, no loses, and 1st place in all times. It took a shit load of practice, and it's valid, cause if you try to reset the game, or stop it before you lose, it'll corrupt the file, or still show you lost. So, lol, it took a lot of practice to get it, which sucks cause I can't show it off, lol. Although, I can still beat RE2 in an hour, lol.

good thread

Lots of good choices in the above posts.

Two favorite intros for me, probably because they are the most fresh in my mind are FarCry for PC and Killzone for PS2.

FarCry is one of the better games I've played in awhile and I really liked the intro.

Killzone was another game that I enjoyed and it's intro seemed like a movie trailer for some kind of SciFi epic.

I don't really game all that much but there are several games I'll get into from time to time. All the latest Metal Gear games are good and I still like to play the button masher Gradius series. I don't know why, but I like to zone out on occasion and play Gradius games.

I've gotta go with the opening movie fo the original Splinter Cell... That thing was well done.

Gamer...it's be a few months before I can even think about buying a PSP but if it's possible to share the necessary components with us (if it's not too big to post) then that would be super cool. >^_^<

Well, I'm not being choosey either. I meant, if anybody wanted it. I'm willing to share, I mean hey, I'm a friendly gamer, lol I don't mind spreading it. The only thing though, is I dunno if I could actually post it or not. If I couldn't, I'd just give people my e-mail so I could send it out. Oh, and I know the feeling. I use to be able not to afford anything. Then, two jobs and several months later, my gaming experience sky rocketed. I mean, I grew up playing NES, SNES, Genesis, and all. I mean hell, I still got my Intellivision and Commodore 64 laying around somewhere, lol. The only reason why I got a PSP is cause of my hook ups at Gamestop, where I work part time, lol. Landed me one for 100 bucks. The nice part is, I got an Xbox 360 reserved, and I'm only paying 200, plus getting a free game. But, the cool thing about the Emulators is they will fit on the standard psp memory card, so it works out. I hope you can enjoy the pleasures of one soon ness. ^_^

Alright. I just tried to upload it, but the forum doesn't allow the type of file it is to upload here. If anybody wants it, send me an e-mail at [email protected]. The only thing I warn, and stress completely with is to be extremely careful. Not only is it illegal if you dl games you don't own, it can also cause your memory to corrupt. The only way not to cause the problems, is if you hit the home button on the psp before turning it off. Turning it off with the emulator still on will result in corrupting your memory card. Take it from me, I learned from experience, lol.

Yeah, well, I guess I suck at Super punch out then :weird: ... but I still kick ass on Capcom vs SNK(hey, I gotta feel good about something right 😀 )...
RE2 in an hour, really? Impressive, it takes me about 1:50 or 2 hours, if I'm having a good day... Oh, I have a friend who beat the anaconda in the attic on RE1(PSOne) using his jiu jitsu technique(no guns used all), which pretty much consisted on running around and screaming JIU JITSUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and somehow making the anaconda bite itself, that was also impressive, and one funniest things I've ever seen 😀 😀 😀 , specially cause when he started running around I thought he was just crazy and bluffing...

Envy........ rising..........can't..........control........it............. AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
(turns green and smashes everything)
LOL
No no, seriously, that's great man, enjoy your X-box 360 when you get it!!!!!!
I'm gonna have to wait a while before I can get one myself, so I'll have to conform with the current consoles... on the bright side, the new Zelda is coming out in november too, and I think I can afford that one, it should keep me entertained long enough(since I usually play games over and over until I wear them out as you may have already noticed) until I am able to afford some new hardware...

Envy........ rising..........can't..........control........it.. ........... AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

No kidding, man! I don't play x-box and I'm still jealous!! Hook me up with a cheapy PS3, brother!!!

Being able to use it may still be a ways off but it doesn't hurt to be prepared so I'll send ya an email asking for the emu. You have to zip it or rar it to post it, btw. ^_^ Thanks!!

It's all good man, I know the feeling. I cracked open the SNES box plenty of times over the years. It's actually in my room, along with the rest of my systems. Ya, I'm a geek so what, lol. Nah, the only reason why I get the deal, because I can go directly to the retailer. But, it's a one time thing only. Meaning I can't get hookups. Which sucks, but I'm not picky, so whoever's over my place wants to play, is more than welcome, lol. Oh, and I've seen a video of somebody beating the Tyrant on the REMake with just the knife. It was crazy. Yeah. Whenever PS2 came out, I had my PSX until about two years after it was out, and went down to the 150 price. Everything I had was constantly played and beaten over and over cause nothing new really came out. And, it was rather a pain finding something worth getting on PSX.

That's where we run into a problem though, lol. If you zip it, it will freeze. I already tried to do that as well. I dunno, the thing is weird. All I know is, I got a Super Mario Brothers 3 itch, lol.

Gahh I dont own ANY old systems, much less MY old systems. We were so rough on them I'm surprised they functioned. I remember letting the NES dry out at least once after getting Coke spilled (and in) on it. If games were on cd back then they wouldn't have lasted the week. 😛

How I wish sometimes that I still had an old SNES. It's one thing to have an emu but another to have the real thing with a for real control in your hands...though I hear you can get an SNES control for the 'puter. Must buy one day....
What I really want more than anything is my old 3DO. Man that was fun. I think I'm about the only person like that on the planet though. 😛

Yeah, I'll probably wait for a price drop, or at least until the other consoles come out, see what they have to offer... since I'm only getting one of them(at least for a VERY LONG time) I'd rather check them out and see which one suits me better.
The current consoles shall serve me well, and also, to be honest, the new Zelda game is whats really got me on the edge of my seat, no particular reason really(aside from the fact that it is a great series of games), I've just been hooked up to the series ever since I played Legend of Zelda on SNES, I guess I'm just a fan...

Those SNES consoles were like a tank, I dropped mine quite a few times(as well as my SNES and N64) and it never stopped working, one of the advantages of cassette using consoles I guess(try dropping a PS2 or a GC, console go bye bye :wooha: )...

I remember 3DO, it's been a while since I've seen one of those, came out around '93 if I'm not mistaken, one of the true pioneers of 32-bit consoles, there was a Panasonic version and a Goldstar version(long before it became LG). The one thing I will never forget about 3DO is the price when it first came out(Panasonic version), 700 dollars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It eventually dropped to a decent price of course. There was also the AMIGA CD-32 and a few others, but the 3DO was the coolest of them all 😎

PS: I haven't dropped any more of my consoles since the N64(it wasn't even me, a friend tripped over the controller cord and brought it to the ground), I have become an extremely cautious person since video games implemented laser tech

Super Metroid - "The last Metroid is in captivity... The galaxy is at peace." - Awesome score.

Final Fantasy IX - A fairytale in CG.

Anarchy Online - "My father told me how to use a gun." - Goosebumps 😉

Shenmue - "Keep friends... those you love... close to you." - We still don't know what exactly happened there, but it was awesome.

Shenmue II - Just the feeling of playing Shenmue again was enough.

Outcast - Brilliant game, brilliant intro. 'nuff said.

Resident Evil - "ARGH" - Blood, gore, splatter. This is how a game hast to start!

These are mine for now 😉

Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War.
And if you like FMV sequences (like you said MW4 before) Wing Commander 3 and 4.

I totally agree with dawn of war. And if you like filmed sequences as well, dark forces 2:Jedi knight. 😀

Oh, did anyone see the uncut freelancer intro? The one, where the nomads arrive at the solar system and destroy Sol, including all of the planets?
"By blind luck a young general survived the shock wave on the dark side of Pluto. His name was Atticus Rockford. Someone had to warn the colonists in the Sirius System that these... Aliens were coming. They needed to prepare - for mankind had found it's real enemy... The Nomads.

That was 800 years ago, when we came here to rebuild our lives. We've come a long way since then. We've grown, we've prospered, we've flourished...But we will NEVER forget." - Babababababammm!!
Yaaaaay, that's what I call an intro! Chris Roberts is awesome 😉

(try dropping a PS2 or a GC, console go bye bye )...

They did this on XPlay once. They dropped all 3 systems from a 10 foot height, hit them with a sledgehammer (like a golf ball)and...crap...I forget what else they did. I think they PS2 broke first, then the xbox, and the game cube kept on truckin. You're right though, I'd never put my PS2 through the hell my cartridge systems suffered.

I think we paid $400 for our (panasonic) 3DO in '93 or '94. The amount of begging that we managed to perform is mind boggling. 😛

Finally somebody else that has played Shenmue, lol. People, if you have an Xbox, get it. It's gotta be one of the best rpg's ever. It's about a martial artist who's father is just randomly killed by a man named Lan Di in they're own dojo, it really gets you hooked, lol. Yeah, Twilight Princess looks awesome. I'm hoping it's another Orcarina of Time. That game was amazing, all though A Link to the Best is still by far the best Zelda ever.

hey guys I hate to get off topic here but for anyone who is looking forward to pre ordering the sony ps3. I Read in an article that sony is purposely going to ship defective units for the first few weeks.

Oh and I played Shenmue on the dreamcast. that game is innovative. The gameplay where you can interact with most of the objects in the environment. The virtual fighter-like fighting system. Really a great game.

I honestly don't think they will. Considering that if you buy a defective console, the store usually has a 30 period to replace it, and considering that it should have a warranty, I don't think Sony would put themselve in a ditch like that, but you never know.... And yeah, that was the best part about Shenmue. From driving the motorcycle to simple watching the weather change from sunny to rain, and rain to snow, and such. I hope they make a 3 on Xbox 360, that would be nice to see.

That sounds like a runor to me...why would they do somehting like that?

Agreeing with a post a few above ^^^^
Yes, Link to the Past was indeed one of the best games I've ever played (props to the original Zelda as well). Seriously I got teary eyed watching the end sequence :*)

heres another great opening

Legacy of kain: blood omen for sony playstation

About the comment about the ps3. I dont know if its true or not. Its nothing official. However, the sony ps2 had trouble reading blue disc and they created a new slimmer ps2 cause some of the games didnt work. Why would they do it ness?my guess is for the money.

Soulcaliber had a great intro, IIRC.

And then, on the PS1 no less, Vagrant Story had great cinematics throughout, with great lines like "Reinforcements? I am the reinforcements."

I don't think it would be something they would do on purpose, but it is a possibility that PS3s could be defective, not all of them, but some. There where 10000 defective PSPs on the first shipment they sent, also, if the PS3 is anything like the slim PS2, then there is a huge chance for defective consoles, the PS series isn't known for their quality materials, for instance, the slim PS2, well, it tends to overheat too much, and on a console that size you can't fit a fan anywhere, so it is very likely for them to break down from overheating... Hopefully the new PS3 will be much better when it comes to endurance, but you never know...

The only problem I've had on my PSP is one dead pixel. It drives me nuts sometimes, but I hardly notice it during gaming. Just on the movies I have, that are wide screen. Other than that, it's all good. And sorry bout my previous post. "Link to the Past" ** Gah, I hate working the night shift, lol.
