Well as i'm sure most of you are aware by now, 7 terrorist bombs were detonated in London this morning on public transport buses, trains and underground.
Hundreds of casualties, although few confirmed deaths, this is certain to change however as these bombs were set off in the rush hour at the key time for commuting to work.

Terror blasts strike capital

Jul 7 2005

By The Huddersfield Daily Examiner

A BUS was ripped apart in an explosion in central London today and several blasts rocked the Tube network - leaving dozens of people injured.

Two other buses were also thought to be damaged by explosions.

There were reports of explosions in Edgware Road, King's Cross, Liverpool Street, Russell Square, Aldgate East and Moorgate, Scotland Yard said.

The Tube blasts were initially blamed on a power surge but there were reports that had been discounted.

It was to be expected; it was only a matter of time. Fortunately, I happened not to be on the system at the time as my internship has fallen through, else I'd have been at Kings X.

Heard about it the first thing this morning.

My heart and prayers go out to families who lost loved ones over there this morning.

Also hoping that TT members who live in London (or the UK in general) are all ok, and that their families are as well.

My heart and prayers go out to the people of England...to say this is horrendous, or horrifying is a gross understatement...I'm so sorry...I hope all of our UK members and their families are ok...

I hate to say this, but I felt something coming...any country that hangs out with Bush right now, with his marvelous record of international relations...I worry for...I hope this is all they have planned...

Can't we all just get along? Didn't we learn in pre-school or kindergarten to use your words instead of fighting??? Why kill? Why detonate? WHY????

A horrific event to be sure. Yet un-surprising it happend. Which is even less of a surprise is that Al Quaida have claimed responsibility for this attack as well. Unfortunately, I feel this is just another tragedy, in a long chain of events that is going to occur over the next several years. Unless of course, these terrorists can be found and stopped. Which is highly unlikely, simply because their numbers are not known, nor are their whereabouts. I also understand the U.S has once again raised security on all transportation. I do hope that other countries will follow suit, and raise the bar. I grow tired of the government in general saying, "No need to worry, until it happens here." Maybe someday, we all can get along. But I fear that won't be in our life times. Thoughts and prayers go out to the people in London.

We're pretty used to terrorism; the IRA has been doing it for years. Unfortunately there is no practical way of raising security on the transport network; it's already stretched enough as it is.

Whether it's a division of Al-Qaeda (with that ridiculously silly name that's all over the news this morning with the 27 words in it) or whatever, I think today's events have to be somehow related to the G8 summit in Scotland. It certainly has nothing to do with London getting the Olympics. Who knows, this maybe could have been avoided if Cowboy George Junior went after the damn right people 4 years ago instead of blaming Iraq for the Twin Towers...

...but anyway...I have friends in England and fortunately everyone's accounted for. It seems that so far everyone in the UK is actually doing a great job coping with this and not caving in to fear and all, so good for them...condolences to those affected today and hopefully everything and everyone will work itself out for the better...

Events like this. Evil. I dare not get started on this, because I'll rant on for pages. Needless to say it's a sad day for so many.

There were 7 explosions. 6 at stations and on tube trains, and one on the top deck of a double decker bus.

37-40 People have been confirmed killed, with 200+ Injured...

....London will recover from this....The city has strong resolve....we'll get through this....

...But damn....2 of the bombs were 5 mins from my work place....

It was bound to happen one day....

X - R.I.P To all those who got killed this morning....RIP Fellow Londoners... - X

I dont see how President bush should be indirectly responsible for this, nobody pointed the finger at him cuz of the madrid bombing, same that nobody finger pointed at clinton for the USS cole and zimbabwe embassy bombings

I'll just say this, the Brittish spirit is prob the strongest thing on earth, hell they lived underground for several years due to Nazi bombings and it pretty much didnt stop their way of life. Terrorists should be wary in pissing off Tony Blair, if anyone has seen the house of commons, he dont take crap.

The terrorists will not be found. The terrorists will not be caught. As long as the terrorists are willing to sacrifice themselves to injure others they will strike, people will die, and it will just keep going on and on. We are no closer to finding their hidden meeting places, than we are to finding the headquarters of the Easter Bunny. If you take one thing away from this little rant, take this...The "War on Terror" as it stands right now is UNWINNABLE. Kid yourself if you want to, but this is a matter of undeniable fact.

Oh, and I suppose we can finally put to rest the line about "well we're fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here."

I say we just blow up the whole goddamn western hemisphere and kill all them towlhead bastards!!!!!!

That is very inflammatory pimp, im sure there are radicals on their side who say they should bomb all those white skinned devils in the america for being the devil'

The war on terror is unwinable on any side, the terrorists feel they are doing holy duty and therefore give up their life, the govt can only do so much to prevent it, even if america and england left iraq, there still would be terror attacks. The only true way to defeat terrorism is similar to what the Brits did today, they continued every day life, terrorism is designed to disrupt life and every day actions.

If hitler and the blitzkreig couldnt break the Brittish spirit, the terror cells have no shot.

They nothing more than cowards and bullies. The only way you eliminate them is wipe them out when you get the chance, educate the young to stop the mind set, and NEVER give in to them. They hit at Blair and Britain because, like Bush, he is man enough not to cower or give in to them.

England, America, Spain, etc. have been around for hundreds of years, waged massive wars, terrorist bombings do nothing for the terrorists. As Japan first learned by bombing Pearl Harbor. all their doing is stirring the hornets nest, and their so gonna get their ass kicked. England's just gonna get em back a hundred times worse, and that's the beauty of it, and it will end up being the demise of terrosism.

Although I live in Canada I travel to London very often. I have used all these Tube stations frequently so this incident really hits home. Godbless all those families who have lost loved ones and those who are seriously injured in hospital.

The latest news reports indicate 37 dead and over 700 wounded. I still have a few London friends whom I have not yet been able to contact.

Experts felt that the attack was planned for this date because (1) the world's news media is gathered in the UK for the G-8 summit, and (2) extra security for the summit left other areas, including London, somewhat unprotected.

My thoughts and prayers too go out to the British people.

Peace,

In my mind, the only way to "give in to them" is by coming after them. By doing that, we're fueling the fire. All they want is to disrupt everyday life and strike fear into you. By going after them, all we're doing is satisfying them.

And for the record, the war is useless and will never end. Dispite the fact that Iraq is none of our business to begin with, we hop on over there and "stir the hornets nest". Now we've lost over a thousand soldiers, and Bush says we arn't leaving until Iraq can fend for themselves? Well, it's not going to be for a while people, and they're even thinking about starting a draft? I say we back out now. It's better for everyone.

Believe it all too well. And I'm pro Bush and I congratulate Blair for having the stomach to join Bush. Our corrupt leaders are just the little slaves of France over here. Their reaction to what happened in the UK was laughable almost.

In a recent press conference, there were actually 4 explosions: One from the bus near Russell Square and 3 Underground. It was believed to be 6 or 7 at first because some people were evacuated from different stations at the time. The death toll is now up to over 50, and that is expected to rise as there are bodies in the Tube that have to be moved or confirmed. Despite what has happened, London Transport are trying to get back to normal, as are everyone else in London. We'll get over it pretty well and quickly too.

That's typical for humans. Everything keeps rolling in the end. People die every 2 seconds or so. But the collective keeps going.

I'm very lucky to be alive today. I was around the kings cross area just before the explosions. If I was delayed about 2 - 3 minutes, I may not even be here today.
