I am currently watching the news and the reporters have said there were two explosions: one at a sporting goods store and one at the finish line of the marathon. Many hurt and some have lost limbs.. It is hard to watch. Heartbreaking. 🙁

UPDATE: 2 have been found dead.. Horrible. 🙁

I've just seen this story. It's absolutely shocking and truly horrific. Thinking of everyone caught up in it and hoping that everybody will be OK.

It's all so GodDamn senseless.....what a tragedy on a day meant for celebration.

The loss of innocent human life is tragic, but on the other hand, doesn't things like this make you wonder why people apparently hate America so much?

Safety is an illusion. All this horror while Homeland Security bureaucracy is busy frisking your grandmother at the airport. Disgusting.

No, it fucking doesn't.

Perhaps this lack of self-reflection is part of what's wrong with this country.
Go tell that to the families and friends of the people that died today and perhaps you will learn a lesson about self-reflection.

This story will be updated all night long. Anderson Cooper will devote his time to this story on CNN.

C.A.B/ Mr.Peanut, I can see where you both are coming from, A lot and I mean A LOT of other countries hate us, for being the way we are, but its no suprise to me that it happened when it did, only saddening.....I spent 2 consecutive years in Iraq doing convoy escort along with UAV ops, I know they hate us...some people on the news website even made mention to...*I hope that we aren`t in shock if we find out its a "patriot" thats behind it* or something to the effect, because as we look at history, it unfortunately takes an attack on someone to get everyone to "Band together"....for the better, against a common enemy, self-reflection? maybe needed for us.But the Truth and the Facts? we will never get them. *I could only hope the people who brought and layed the bombs died along with the explosion...and theres nothing left of them to identify* Sorry for a little grotesque outlook...but thats my feel

Case closed... Bureaucracy, is and will always be the parasite!

No, it does not. I believe that I know why they hate us. But feel free to give your explanation of it.

All I can say is that this is proof that no place is truly 100% protected from a terrorist attack. No matter how vigilant we may be, there will always be a vulnerability. My heart and prayers go out to those involved in this horrific attack.

And if anyone is wondering, I wasn't anywhere near the marathon. I am all right, at least physically.

No, acts like this don't make me wonder why others hate America. What happened today may or may not be intended as an attack on America. What it is for certain is an attack on human life. Whatever cause the terrorists think they're fighting for, they are cold-blooded and cowardly murderers and nothing else. (For precisely this same reason, if by chance the bombing turns out to be the work of Middle Eastern terrorists, I will not want my government or my country dropping any bombs and committing any cold-blooded mass murders in the Middle East as a response to this.)

Interestingly, the New York Post is continuing to hold to its story that the police have a suspect, a 20-year-old Saudi national, under guard at a hospital, even as the Boston police commissioner continues to say that there is no suspect at this time. Maybe the Post is right, but I happen to regard the post as absolutely the most worthless rag that calls itself a newspaper in the city, so I'm not putting any stock in that story at this time, no matter how earnest and convinced they may sound.

Meanwhile, with no serious information about who did this, speculation abounds. And I see from my Facebook page that there are some who think (and probably hope) this will turn out to be the work of the Timothy MacVeigh white American militant anti-tax crowd.

A Saudi arabian eh, it's amazing how quickly they found the so called suspect. I think the US citizens should be more worried about the laws that the great Obama wants to implement in order to keep the country safe. This so called bombing is just another typical government attack on it's citizens right down to the pantomine suspect! I am more interested in knowing exactly who it is that gets the blame this time, Syria perhaps, iran, North Korea? Nah can't be Korea they have missiles after all and the public wouldn't believe it. I dare say CNN and fox has gone mad spreading fear in to the people.

What a fucked up world we live in. This is one huge reason I am not entirely sure I ever want children.

I hope you read my post clearly enough to understand that I'm not putting any credence in the existence of any such suspect, but I attribute it to the reckless non-journalism of the New York Post rather than any massive government conspiracy. You sound a bit paranoid to me, if I may be so bold. (I hasten to add, you have plenty of good company on this board, when it comes to that.)

I think the people who ask such a dumb question are a big part of the problem. Please keep your navel gazing to yourself.

Don't let these terrorists deter us from living on our terms not theirs.
All the more reason to have children and raise them not to fear these cowardly acts or worse, commit them.
And it is just these sorts of terrorist acts that those responsible hope will make us all fear that no place is safe and we will huddle afraid and let their idiocy control us.
All the more reason to grieve with those who lost loved ones today but carry on with our lives and way of life in defiance of those who think these senseless acts somehow will defeat us.
