Charles Manson:Greatest serial killer ever or just insane?

I don't condon murder at all either Jeff. But you gotta admit it is kinda interesting as to why serial killers do theses murders and how they do them! you know crawl inside thier mind so to speak a little bit
 
the hollywood brother do not understnad serial killers and why the public seems to lime them. what is interesting to the hollywood brother is how manson convinced people to do his bidding just like jim jones convinced people to drink the kool-aid. The hollywood brother thinks that these people are very smart but evil and the question is what can we learn to prevent a new one from attacking this world

simple answer to that one hollywood brother. you really can't!

serial killers are all around us and born everyday. if that makes any sense
 
I think that to be a "great" serial killer, you have to portray a sense of menace, and not for nothing but even in his prime Charles Manson was a 5'2" tripped out little weasel who would rather have impressionable teens do his dirty work for him. If I had to pick the "greatest" serial killer of all time, I would have to say hands down, the undeniable heavyweight champion of all things dark and grisly would have to be Jack the Ripper. My reasoning is this...Jack the Ripper to this day *still* has managed to keep his identity secret from us, even though there have been people hunting him for over a century now. I will concede that the mists of time have conspired to cloak him in layer upon layer of myth, but that simply adds to his appeal. He has become an archetypal figure of what Jung would call The Shadow part of man's collective unconscious. He also has the benefit of being the first killer to really get some good run from the mass media of his day. The newspapers made him a huge "celebrity" back then. More books have been written about Jack the Ripper than Abraham Lincoln. One facet of this most unique man that often goes unsaid is that his victims did not die for nothing. The killings of Jack the Ripper shined a bright spotlight on the horrifying conditions of the East End of London, (especially Whitechapel where 4 of the 5 murders took place). And because of this exposure, social reforms were much more quick in developing. I think I've spent enough time on the soap box for now. 🙂
 
Anybody know any good and real books on Charles Manson or any other serial killer legends?

(Please try to suggest books that i can actually buy in book stores!)
 
My suggestion would be to head for the True Crime section of Barnes & Noble. Lots of stuff you might find interesting can be found there.
 
I bought a Ed Gein book called: psycho in Barnes and Noble one time. well actually my dad bought it for me and once both of them found out what type of book it was. they weren't to happy with me! so they said next time i'm gonna have to start buying theses types of ''True Crime'' books with my OWN money 😛
 
please he not even close, john gacy tim mcvay, ted bundy bin lauden, manson nowadays would'nt make the front page, that is a sad commentary about our society

Yeah now a days he proble wouldn't. But he still does get millions and millions of letters to his jail cell each and everyday from his ''fans''.
 
I dont think Manson ever actually killed anyone, did he? I thought he just had other people do it for him. I could be wrong though...

its basically an encyclopedia, that goes through the life of many crime families and mobsters. Has good guys, like elliot ness, the so called bad guys like Capone and then others like american terrorist, timothy mcveigh(Oklahoma City Bombing). Really interesting book to read.

No you are right nessie. He hired people to go out and execute his victims. Dahmer now, he killed the victims himself..that sick bastard.

It does sound interesting. I've never really been into Mobb type stuff really to tell you the truth. But i might see about checking it out the next time i go to Barnes and Noble. Normally though thoses encylopedia books are pretty expensive

Yeah Jeff is right ness. Charles Manson had his followers kill his victims for him. Some thought he was Jesus Christ and he was basically using mind control for his little hippie era type of cult.

Actually, Charles Manson doesn't interest me a whole lot. I just consider him a looney. Vlad The Impaler sort of ruined it for all the others. He had people impaled through her assholes/genitalia, and left them to die, impaling themselves upon their own weight. I've heard things like he used to drink his enemies blood, and had a virtual forest of impaled heads around his castle. Beat that.

Yup you heard it here first! Charlies just a hobo from Kentucky who got involved with the wrong people. People who worshipped him just because he was self educated about his views on life. This "family" went out and killed a bunch of people just to impress him and because they thought that what he wanted. Manson never told anyone to do anything other than what they wanted to do. They wanted to commit murder so they did, Charlie wasnt directing traffic folks, his only crime is being poor, if he was OJ he would have gotten off. Helter Skelter! Cmon doesnt that story sound farfetched? Yet people believe it! I know more that im letting on because I write Charlie in Concoran State Prison and petiton with others for a new trial where he can testify....oh did I leave that out? HE WASNT ALLOWED TO TESTIFY AT HIS OWN MURDER TRIAL!!!! And to an earlier post Charlies not 5'2 hes 5'7 and his sweight varies. You must think im a nut huh? Did you pull the lever for George Bush on Election Day? If you did youre far worse than a poor loser from Kentucky named Charles Manson.

You can diss and say all you want to about the guy and his family cult. But the fact still re-mains is that people are still gonna be interested in serial killers like Mr.Manson and other true crimes things. And some even may go as far as to ''worship'' serial killers who knows. But as long as it's for interresting purposes only and that you like true crime things and like reading up on theses sort of things. Then yeah thats fine i feel. But if your starting to have thoughts of becoming the next BIG TIME serial killer from reading things online about serial killers reading all kinds of books about them etc... .... and you actually go out one day or night start going out on a murder spree then NO that is not fine at all. I'm talking about just people ingeneral ElectricEye
 
Charles Manson = Screwed by Society

Well I certainly dont condone murder and my interest in serial killers is just that, an interest, there are no bodies in my basement folks. As for Manson, saying someone who has a strong interest in him is the equivalent of a serial killer is like saying someone who watches porno movies is the equivalent of a rapist. Plus as I said I dont consider Manson a serial killer, hes more of an ecologist and I have 7 letters Charlie wrote me in a 10 year span and he mentions murder 0 times! Now Jeffrey Dahmer...there was a serial killer! Its never been proven in a court of law that Charlie actually killed anyone. If a bunch of people want to impress him by murdering thats not Charlies fault. Im telling you 50 years from now history books will treat Charles Manson the way they do Nelson Mandela. Face it there are guys like good ol' OJ or Joel Steinberg who got off for murder and done far worse than Charlie. I mean really, Charlies in jail because of his ideas on life and the earth and stuff not because of murder. Need proof? California state law says you can only hold someone 17 years if they were not at the scene of the crime....Manson has been in jail for 34 years! Can you say political prisoner?
 
So then your saying that Manson should be free on all charges and be released from prison then after 34 years? or do you still feel that he should stay in jail because his views on life are a little bit more screwed and messed up then most of ours? i want your honest opinion

I watched an interview with him on tv along time ago. i forget what channel it was on though (but if i had to guess i think it was either on court tv or A&E) but i think it was a older interview with him NOT a recent interview.
 
Charles "No Rights" Manson

Should Manson be freed? YES!!! In his words he would just go back to the desert and be one with nature again. He wont (contrary to popular belief) grab the first sharp object hes sees and begin to stab people! Dont wanna free him after 34 years fine! How about a new trial in which this time hes able to tell what really happened August 8th & 9th 1969. Or is THAT asking too much? Poor guys got no rights whatsoever so it just might be!
