When Ross and Steve saw the empty state of the office, they quickly went downstairs and demanded to talk to the building manager.
"We are Ross and Steve, the owners and officers of RFS Canada. Our office is empty, and no one is there, could you please explain why?" Ross asked.
"Yes,. an attorney gave me a summons demanding we empty the office, and told me to give you gentleman these" The manager said.
Ross and Steve looked at the papers, went upstairs, and sat in two chairs left over.
"A summons, stating claim and stoppage of business from an attorney representing John Fish, and a letter from Jim, stating that he has been ordered to stop all business with us. Oy Oy Vey!~" Ross said.
Ross sighed, and Steve said. "Well, what do we do?"
"We have to call Forest, our attorney up here, and try to see him. If he cant see us, then we both need to go home, do a conference call with him ASAP, and come back up whenever we have to" Ross said.
Ross dialed Kayley's cell phone;
"Kayley, there;'s big trouble. Steve and I are in Toronto. The Canada office is empty, the building manager gave us lawsuits from a lawyer representing Fish, and Jim , one of our main sources here , has a stop order from doing business with us" Ross said, a darkness coming over him.
"Fish ? I thought he is in jail, and that you guys kicked him out of the company" Kayley said
"Both true, but, there is a claim from him or whoever this is from that he is a "founding officer of RFS Canada" Thus, it might not be as easy as we thought" Ross said.
"Ross, I'm so sorry for you guys. What are you going to do?" Kayley said.
"Call our attorney up here, try to see him. If he cant see us today , Steve and I both go home, talk on the phone, and come up here ASAP" Ross said.
"Okay, keep me posted, and be careful" Kayley said.
In the meantime, Steve had dialed Forest, the attorney, and Mister P, and told them both the news. Steve would send Forest the papers via FedEX, Ross and Steve would both go home, talk to Forest on the phone, and come back as needed.
Steve, the calmer of the two men, said. "Ross, this is our first real problem like this since we founded RFS. Maybe its not as bad as we think. Let's give Forest the papers, let him reply, sue, whatever he has to do, and we will be in touch with him closely" Steve said.
"We dont have any other choice but to do that" Ross said.
Ross and Steve sent the papers to Forest, both took flights home,. and waited. Ross went home to Queens.
Ross walked in the door of the apartment, looking very glum.
"We're dreaming of our "Tundra Oil Divisions, and in the meantime, the walls might come tumbling down" Ross said.
Kayley soothed Ross's face. Let's take a shower, have dinner, VP will just hold you, and make no demands., I know that this is a thud for you. Maybe you can figure it out" Kayley said.
Kayley and Ross showered, went our for Japanese food, came home, the couple got into bed, and Ross just stared at the ceiling, thinking.
The next morning, Kayley had to go to work.
Ross was debating whether to go in. Luckily, all of Mel's work was finished. If Ross went into the office, he would tell Mel that he had just come home from Canada and was dealing with a business issue, and that Ross would be available in 24 hours.
Ross threw on jeans, a black Polo shirt, black jacket, and black shoes.
When Ross went into the office, everyone could see that Ross looked upset, so they stayed away.
Ross called Vic into Ross's office.
"Vic, you know that I was in Toronto with Steve. We might have a severe . catastrophic problem with RFS Canada. I'm going to go into the empty office I use. Please tell everyone that I'm working on a special project and cannot be disturbed. If you need me, please just let me know, okay?" Ross said.
"I'm sorry about your problem in Canada, and of course, Ross" Vic said.
As Ross sat in the empty office, toward lunchtime, his cell phone rang.
"Ross, this is Forest. Please go into your own office where you can get on your conference landline. You, Steve and I need to talk, now" Forest said.
Ross went into his own office at RossShell and locked the door.
"Guys, I'm not going to lie to you both. This is very, very bad. I'm going to file a continuance with the court for 30 to 60 days to buy me some time to research the legality of all of this, and what I can do to answer and help you both. I dont want to say what I think could or might happen, because I just dont know. Thus, is why I need the time" Forest said.
"Forest, please do what you think is best. Such is why we value your legal expertise" Steve said.
Forest hung up, leaving Steve on the phone with Ross.
"I'm going to explain this all to Mister P. I did not tell him the whole story so as not to upset him. He's here with me in the office, and we both know that I'm much more calm than you are, partner. Once I break it to him, in a day or tws, we will all talk" Steve said.
"Okay, Steve, please do whatever you think is best" Ross said.
As the days went along, Kayley tried to soothe Ross's problems.
She would say things like. "Even if God Forbid you guys lose the whole Tundra Disivion, you still have OKC and Texas, and you can do something else with RFS. You will bounce back. Look at what happened when you lost RossShell, and had RossCo for a couple of years, and then got RossShell back from Tazzio, and now RossShell is bigger and better than ever" Kayley said.
"I know, but that was different. That was one crazed character in Tazzio, whose claim was from outside, and was bullshit. This is very tricky. Yes Fish was corropt, and yes, he got thrown out of the company, but his status as a founding officer is why our lawyer in Toronto, Forest has to research this carefully. I guess I will just have to let Forest do his work, and let it play out" Ross said.
More time went by , Mel gave Ross another project that Ross had.. 90 days to do.
In the meantime, Ross got an "urgent message from Steve to come to OKC within 24 hours"
It seemed like the "Walls were tumbling down" in every direction wtih RFS, even though the situation in Canada had nothing to do with RFS OKC in reality, as Ross, Fritz and Steve were still free to buy companies, and do shows.
Yet, everything even in OKC was at a stopping point.
Why was this? What were Ross, Steve and Fritz leery of, if anything?
That would be seen.
"We are Ross and Steve, the owners and officers of RFS Canada. Our office is empty, and no one is there, could you please explain why?" Ross asked.
