Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin dead...

I just found out a few minutes ago about this. I was surprised! My first source for this was myspace bullitens, which are usually as accurate as a dyslexic sniper, but after noticing that each bulliten was different and that there were no weird links on em, I searched for info on it and sure enough, there was the article.

Man, I feel really bad for his family :dropatear

I am absolutely stunned by the news. I, like the rest of us, thought that man would never die having seemingly brushed off death so many times before. I will miss him and his show greatly. Deepest condolences to his family.

I was very saddened when I heard the news this morning, just couldn't believe it and what a way to go, really sad. He was so full of life and trying to understand the animals but presenting it in a fun and informative way.

Feel so sorry for his wife and 2 children, really tough times ahead. I wish them all the best and hope the media don't post pics of him at the end.

Rest in peace Steve Irwin

I'm sorry he died and all but seriously!!!! He knew his job was dangerous not to mention the stuff kids would come up with after watching his show!!!

I use to have kids come into the Science museum and I would be handling one of the animals giving a Discussion on it and of course a 6 year old kid would want to hold it and be like "I saw steve irwin wrestle with an alligator Let me try it!" These are wild animals!!! What the hell are we teaching our kids!

I'm sorry he died though.

Like the saying goes, "you live by the sword, you die by the sword". It's sad, no doubt about that. But honestly, the only surprise there for me was it hadn't been a reptile that got him. Never saw that coming.

Ah well, RIP Steve. You inspired a whole new generation of wildlife afficianados who are willing to blindly stick their hands into a nest of Diamondback rattlesnakes. But you were the king.

Sad

it just doesn't feel right does it....it was like he was immortal nothing could break him. its a real shame. (RIP steve)

I admit I shed a tear when I saw the full lengthy report on CNN earlier today. Being the huge animal lover I am, there were few people I respected more than Steve Irwin...both for his shared love of all Gods creatures, and for the respect and kindness he showed toward them all. I was a huge fan and still can't really believe this has happened. Of all the dangerous and deadly animals that he handled with such grace and experience, it doesn't seem right that one of the LEAST aggressive creatures he crossed paths with would be the one to take him away.

RIP Steve. You were an inspiration to so many, and your legacy will live on for a long long time to come. My thoughts and prayers are with his lovely wife and two young children.

Mimi

I couldn't believe it when I heard it this morning. Steve was an amazing human being and his work will no doubt live on for years. It is truly a tragic loss and I cannot imagine what his beautiful family must be going through right now. I guess Heaven has a new zookeeper.

Rest in Peace, Steve. We'll miss you.

I`m sad to hear of Steve Irwins death. But 44 is a good run when you live life on the edge. I`m sure he didn`t plan on living till he was 80 years old.

I have to say that news of his passing saddens me. At the same time, I'm surprised it didn't happen years ago. But the man definitely died doing what he loved, and we should all be so lucky.

Very sad news indeed, I was always shocked to see him in the wildlife with animals that could rip you to shreds as entertainment, Its so ironic that he died from animals that he often put on a demonstration with,.....He will definately be missed :sadcry:

Yeah that is a shame. What really makes it so surreal is that he seemed to put so much stock in safety (even wrestling 'crocs' there seemed to be a very deliberate method to his madness), and yet gets taken down by something so innocuous seeming.

Very sad and very sad also for his family.

Rest In Peace Mate.

I am a hardcore animal fan so I see Irwin's death as a great loss 4 the human and animal community alike. I hope his message of animal conservation and his memory will live on. GOD BLEESS AND FAREWELL STEVE. :wiseowl: :bat: :cat: :fish: :dog: :bunny: :xbee: :wavingguy

i heard they have videotape of his final moments...i just hope it can't be found online..the report said he pulled the stinger from his chest..

Re:

Somehow I'm not too sad for him. Feel bad for his kids though.

Is it just me or the image above tasteless?

He has a right to his opinion no matter how distasteful it may be to everyone else....

RIP Steve.....and thank you to all of you who posted honoring his memory.....

This thread was started to honor a life and MOURN the death of someone. To say your first post was tacky would be an understatement. I personally thought the man was crazy, but I admire and respect a man who lived his dream with passion and gusto. There should be more men who just go for it regardless of societal norms-they'd be a lot happier in the long or short run.

If this was your opinion, maybe this thread wasn't the place to express it, hence the responses you got.

i love you kis...my sentiments exactly..this thread is to mourn the death of an extremely brave man..one who lived fully...one who cared about nature..

I was very surprised to hear this, and really sad...I've been a fan of the croc hunter for a while, he was hilarious and cool 🙁 What's really weird is the way it happened... as many have said, at least he died out making a wildlife documentary like he probably would have wanted, but the way he died...I read in a couple places that he's like only the 2nd or 3rd person on record to have died from a stingray... So strange that a man who worked with extremely dangerous animals all the time would be killed by one that so rarely harms anyone. 🙁 RIP Steve, Animal Planet won't be nearly as fun without you

Fox was showing clips from when Steve was a guest on Fox & Friends this morning and he was wrestling a blow up alligator on the show.. I was lmao.. What an awesome personality he had.. Not to sound happy about it but I think that its cool that he went out quick, on top of his game, and doing what he was passionate about.. Thanks for the inspiration Steve. And God Bless the family.. :redheart:

Steve Irwin was truly a great man. No matter how stupid his antics seemed to be to the world, his love and dedication to the animals was amazing. He has taught so many people to respect the animals that we share this planet with. He has inspired a generation of kids to learn and to understand animals. He will be missed. May God be with his family during this trying time. :sadcry:
