Daughter of War

LOL I know omg, LBH just ruins it for the rest of us lol... just kiddin'. I love ya man, don't ever dumb-down your reviews; they are the dessert after the hearty meal that Vlad, Umojar, Tyklfynd and co. provide us lowly fanboys.

Hmm...actually, thats a good analogy. But one must remember not to spoil one's appetite with too many sweets. 😉

Vlad, you rock… plain and simple. I'll tell ya, I feel a sting of (positive) jealousy whenever I see your artwork; I have a hobby of creating original characters myself (some I hope to share someday), but I don't have the talent to take it any further than written bios... I suppose someday I'll find the time to learn how to draw...

And I certainly hope you do. They're calling out to be drawn and made real. I think you owe you it to them to give them life. You'll make them, yourself, and others happy. 🙂

This is my favorite piece of yours so far. We all have our Lara Crofts, so it isn't alien for one to fall for a fictional character. I love the asymmetry of her face; it reflects the very thing that I find beautiful about nature around us. The way her chin dips in slightly just below her right cheek, beautiful. You seemed to have instinctually made everything asymmetrical. I also really dig her full eyebrows; I just find that so sexy in a woman. It also adds to her aura of strength. *fanboy alert*

Thank you. I really appriciate your candor and evaluation.

Strong women rock;

They most certainly do. I'm attracted to that type in one way or another. Equally so for women who might start of weak, but really blossom and overcome their difficulties under their own power.

Also, to quote Spike Spiegal "I love a woman that can kick my ass!" 😛

and it's refreshing to see a warrior who does not look out of character (like a model posing with a sword). Everything in her face is a testimony to her strength, and she does not need to pose with an over-sized sword to get her point across. The birthmarks are a lovely touch. A reminder that although she is a warrior; she is still a woman, and can melt our hearts as easily as she can rip them to shreds 😛

Strong, yet delicate. Tainted, yet there is a purity about her that has remained untouched by her dark-life... or perhaps it is the wishful thinking of the male heart who has been smitten by a beauty, long before her blade reached its mark...

You're rivaling LBH now, dude! He's better prepare! 😛

Thanks again. 🙂

Posts like this make me feel really good when I can get them because it shows me that the viewer understands either me, the picture, or the feelings in the picture, and being able to share that with another person more openly gives just as much satisfaction as perhaps even drawing the picture.

I present thee with a woman that can kick anybody's ass lol XD

One of my personal fav UT2k4 models for when I'm in the mood for a lil bot-fragging. Found it when my gf complained that she found most of the UT2k4 models too skanky for her taste; she got a big kick out of it cuz she's a Halo fan hehe.

Thanks for the kind words Vlad, you really are an inspiration 🙂 Maybe one day I'll be postin' up sketches of my own chars 🙂 I've tried so many times and given up... guess I'll try again!

You're welcome. You've been pretty generous. 🙂

Maybe you'll post them? DEFINITELY post them. I would like to see them. I think posting things helps get your ideas flowing in the right direction, rather than remaining just ideas and therefore being stagnant with the course of time.

Do you have any of them available now, or do you need to prepare them more?

Oh ya I'll need to prepare them, most of the bios are just random word documents with ideas jotted down; think of them as digital paper napkins lol.

I've been wanting to flesh out my characters for a while; but my busy work schedule has held me back. I'm pretty shy about my ideas tho lol so it'll take some mental preparation as well.

In time I suppose 😀 for now I'll continue to let our fine artists on the TTC inspire me.

You know, don't let this secret get out, but I don't have full profiles or backstories for any of my characters yet, but I share them anyways. :amazed:

LOL, I don't mean to seem sarcastic, but you do know that theres no harm in posting a character that doesn't have his or her backstory or even their appearance cemented and finalized, right? This may just be my opinion, but I think it helps to draw them anyway, as you imagine them now, and then use the drawings as a template for how you're going to edit and change them, if at all. This way you're always constantly flowing with the character and not getting backed up with the ideas and, as a result, not drawing or producing.

You can draw characters without full profiles and stories and still make it work. It may even be fun that way. It used to be where I wouldn't draw anything original until every single detail about the character was finalized and I was 100% sure I wasn't going to change it. I soon realized however that this is the quick track to getting little done on the drawing front.

All characters start off as concepts.

Sometimes it's just not practical to withhold drawing them simply because they are not finished. As they are a concept, they are likely to change somehow, so drawing them as they go through these changes is a good idea.

Your persuasiveness is very vampire-like lol

Y'know, I'll admit that my life has lacked a certain balance that I once had back when I was dabbling in character design. Although I'll admit, looking back at my older WIPs, I lacked a lot of foundation (never took classes like anatomy for artist 101 and stuff lol); but I was a happier person...

I really should revise my current schedule and find a way to stick art back in there. My intuos tablet has been collecting dust...

I have a lot of practicing to do before I have anything post-worthy tho; I feel like taking it back to the basics, re-learning concepts that I never quite grasped before.

I will follow your advice and post any WIPs and sketches. And thanks to the supportive atmosphere here at TTC I have a feeling it will definitely add to my growing experience.

*tickled at the idea of actually creating a tickle character* =3

It seems you need balance. Inserting art back into your life in a real way will help with that, especially if you feel compelled to do it. Art is so satisfying, and I'm glad I'm an artist. If I wasn't I'm not sure what would take it's place.

To think that these characters I think up would simply not exist if I was not an artist really helps me realize what a gift this is and how fortunate I am to have it. 🙂

Since it seems threads are being bumped (by the artist or others) for the new non-tickling artwork forum, I'll bump a few of mine. 🙂
