I have a friend who I need advice about, except he reads your column so instead of using his real name, we'll call him "Natural". He talks a lot of crap to lees, but I have yet to see him be as b.a. as those lees, and put himself in that line of fire. Any advice?

:jester:. That is indeed a tough question. Perhaps constant teasing about not being able to take what he dishes out would help. And I mean constant :bwahaha:. Perhaps incorporate it into his name, for example, "Hey what's up Natural-Can't-Take-What-He-Dishes-Out, how are you doing?" :rowfull:

I will have to think a little further on the matter to see if I can come up with anything better.

I have friend that I need advice on, except she just wrote you a letter, so we'll call her "Lily". She has a problem with self confidence, and tries to be tougher than she really is...she is married and has a wife who thinks she is tougher than she really is also....how do I try to convince her not to think outside her station and deal with people she can actually handle??

she also has a problem with overexaggeration.. because she accused me of not being a b.a when coming to be a lee...she is mistaken because I am LER, and doesn't realize such...any advice??

This may count as a transgression, but I am afraid I cannot help you. I am a LEE, and am prone to acting tougher than I am as well. I would only encourage your friend to stay strong, and keep her fighting attitude 😀. I will say however, that if you feel she's not as tough as she says, then it is up to you to school her on her limitations 😀.

I don't really know how to answer that last question either :jester:. If it's merely an over-exaggeration, then I wouldn't worry about what your friend says.

Dear Sketch,

Now I don't do this routine daily (you can't overly handle dreadlocks or they won't be as strong). But when it's time to care for them, I will wash my hair 2-3 times in the shower with a deep cleansing shampoo. I have to wrap my hair in a towel for 15 minutes or so, and then switch and get a new towel to absorb more water for another 15 minutes (dreads hold an exceptional amount of water, and any moisture left can cause problems inside the locks. Once they are dry enough (it takes at least 4 or 5 hours for them to fully dry), I use a product called Murray's Gel Lock to get each lock to look neat (it is a very very light gel, not like beeswax which I refuse to use in my hair, because it's heavy and feels greasy).

This next part gets a little time consuming. My locks are more Congolese in style, meaning I will take two individual locks and twist them together kind of like a braid. Every time I do my hair, I have to take each 'braid' down and re-do it. I take the Murray's Gel and prime the locks, then twist them together. Because they are as long as they are now, this process takes at least 1-2 hours.
