Democracy just got cancer.

Well maybe cancer will kill it all in February like it did with my dad..

Oh boy. Money makes things happen. Like.. Always. -Sad Sigh-

So, it's not that I'll be looking at what the candidate is doing, but what Corporation is backing him. I won't vote for anyone who is being backed by Nestle, they've done truly terrible things.

Wait, as a member of the public, I don't have a right to see the financial spending and income of an Electoral Run?

Huh.

...

Yeah, guess I'm just not voting since I can't make an informed one! <.<

If everyone stops voting, then no one can get elected, right? 😀 R-Right..? ;-;

Wrong.

It is not about how many people who vote. But about who is counting those votes.

I'm countin' da votes!

Since when is upholding the constitution a cancer. Unions already can do this, It's called FREE speach.

Since buying a politician has more power than voting one in? Unions will be the first to die since they can't compete with big business.

I'm not even sure if I want to wade into this, as it'll get me going in ways you don't even want to see. If America hadn't become a shopping mall yet, it just did. And don't think this is some fantasy thing that might happen to our grandkids. We're approaching mid-term elections. Anyone wanna lay a money bet that the Democratic majority suddenly and mysteriously disappears? When you can pay for your own lawmakers, you can now write law by proxy. And who do you think those laws will favor?

Give it a decade, if that. Kiss stem cell research goodbye, get your kids used to having the Bible shoved down their throats in public school science classes (of course in Kansas they won't notice the change much)...you know what. Fuck it. I don't even wanna get into this as much as I thought. I'm that pissed. And discouraged in a population that just cares less and less about important things while Facebooking.

Remember, a Supreme Court decision by an activist Chief Justice started the American Civil War.

Joke about moving to Canada? Fuck that. With friends in Canada and family in the UK...I've already made the decision that I'm not sticking around to see the aftermath of this judicial afterbirth. It's been coming for some time anyway...but this clinched it. By the end of 2010, one way or another...you guys are on your own. Enjoy it. 😉

I don't know if it's free speach, but it could fall under free speech, but it doesn't.

"Paying money" isn't expression. It's paying money. Mr. CEO should have to vote just like me. His opinion should matter the same as mine, which is about 1/300,000,000th of the entire opinion of the country (2010 Census estimates put us over 300 million in the USA!) And his money should matter as much as mine does.

Nothing.

I think it would just be better if people couldn't make donations to campaigns. Then... >gasp<

Politicos might have to stand on their own two feet. What an idea.

But seriously... "free speach?" Way to use that edumacation! :thumbsup

This is almost like a dystopian sci-fi future written by Grant Morrison for an issue of the Doom Patrol.

Utterly absurb for the sake of absurdity only to be beaten by even greater absurdity.

That's about as much sense as this makes to me.

I was thinking the same thing.

All my fellow Americans seem to want from life is, no sex, comfortable shoes and a warm place to watch Bill O'Reilly.

Among the other things we can kiss goodbye is net neutrality. Sites like this one will either disappear or get bought by Google. And "cleaned up". Surfing the net and watching network TV will become indistinguishable from one another.

Remember, a Supreme Court decision by an activist Chief Justice started the American Civil War.

And those Americans who are talking most seriously about armed revolt are the kind who own 1000 guns and think Glenn Beck is a sushi-sucking liberal.

This is truly a nightmare scenario. Haiti and the USA have at least one thing in common - rampant structural collapse.

I can't possibly imagine anybody here thinking this is a good thing. But then again, I'm not sure if any of you belong to a large corporation planning on buying a few politicians. Which is legal now. So the only question left is... who wants to go to Canada with me?

Uhhhh This gave us our rights back? The way it was helped keep incumbants in power. This doesn't allow corps to give money to specific canditates either.

The states already allow it for their elections... This just allows it for federal elections.

one union gave Obama 60 million in the last election.... Which is why Obama bought their support by agreeing to force everyone to pay 40% in taxes on "High end health insurance" but the unions are exempt? lol talk about corruption.

Eff Canada...They only have one road and I'm definatly not learning french either.

Unions can't compete with big corporations. 60 mil is a drop in the bucket for companies like Raytheon (what a surprise! Raytheon lobbylist William J. Lynn is the Deputy Secretary of Defense. LULZ!)

I was only half-joking about Canada. What's the gun laws like up there? I'd hate to have to give mine up. Especially when Uncle Sam comes a-knockin' (and when I say a-knockin', I mean a-nnexin').

Oh for crying out loud. You're here too? You like the idea of politicians being bought by people who don't care about you? I know you have some pretty insane opinions over at the TMF, but I just figured you could get away with acting like an uneducated right-wing nutcase just for shock value.

You're honestly like that? Good lord I feel sorry for you.
