I agree that this isn't left vs. right. Corps taking charge doesn't mean the Bible being shoved down our throats. There is nothing farther from the teachings of the prophets than our current state of cosumerism and *****dom. This is an entirely different threat all together.
We've all seen the latest public service announcements about public tv being limited, I imagine? That paints a very dim and highly obscure picture of what could come. First, some of the little free things like public radio and tv broadcasting will disappear. Then, now Wal-Mart gets to vote, that public park where you played when you were a kid, or that beautiful creek where you had your first kiss, will disappear. Suddenly labor laws will start to blurr around the edges.
In a nation already bound by the chains of a credit standard, a new form of slavery will arise. There will be no whips, no taskmaster. But every day our actions and our voice will be manipulated and controlled, or silenced. And when we're suffocating on the stress, the lack of free time, the missed music rehearsals of our children, and the drugs they advertise on TV to "help us deal with it all", where will we obtain the strength, will or courage to take it back? Are we really willing to let it go that far before we take a stand?
But instead all I can hear you say is, "Every man for himself. Run while you can!" And where will you run? You think that their reach of their power will not find you, sooner or later? You believe these increasingly miniscule geographical barriers will protect you? If you look at how things are progressing, are you really willing to take that bet?
I promise you, their power will spread, and it will find you, no matter how far you run. But I will not run. I will not look out for myself while my brothers suffer. And I will not give up my freedom, my land, or my rights. I will fight. To my very final breath, I will fight. And if I have to do it alone, I will. But I will lose. Still, I would rather die and lose as a free man, than run and live for today only to be a slave tomorrow.
Still, there is hope. I could win, but only if you stand with me. And I don't mean Americans, I'm talking to every free man on this earth. If you do not want to be a slave, if you do not want to fight alone, then stand with me! Stand together! We are not a hundred nations, we are one people, free and proud! For this danger isn't present only here. It's present everywhere, and the more we let it spread, the more quickly it will overcome us all, no matter what island we hope to hide in.
So let's take a stand. Now, today. Let's organize. There is always something we can do, and we MUST do it. How do we fight this? If we all think and work together, we can beat this. So let's start. Who has ideas on how we can reverse this?
Personally, I think a first step is to send letters to those we've elected to represent us, and organize groups to do the same, as well as call and physically appear and work with them to get our term met. Anyone else?
