Do people look down on gamers

Why do people write a novel and make negative generalized statements about whole groups of people when its barely even on topic? Like they cant help but add some sanctimonious "the real problem with people today..."

Everyones gotta have something to look down on i guess. If its not gamers, its people younger than them, or people that enjoy social media, wonder what most would think of us spending our time on this forum lol

Hopefully one day people can focus more on finding common ground over similarities than pointing out and looking down on differences.

That would be great, but sadly, I don't see that happening.

I try not to look down on anyone, doesn't matter their job, what they do [short of killing someone], ETC. because if I judge them, that gives them right to judge me. [I know, now-a-days, that outlook on life would be thought of as "Hippie-ish"]

And, to hit on what you said about novels. I do hate it, too, when people judge all for the actions of one. I have read a few books like that.

It honestly depends on the gamer. I hear many women complain about their husbands gaming and never doing anything with them, you have kids who game way to much, there was always that "violent video games make children violent," then you have the gamers who spend time with family and play with their spouses, or ones that play with their friends on occasions so but the stigma is cast around us because of how they precieve us. They think we are just fat, lazy, hermits who do nothing but play game all day and have no social lives, which is true for some but not all. So sadly they do look down on us, but who doesn't look down on the nerds

Yes, there are people who look down on gamers. But good luck finding an activity that no one out there looks down on.

There's certainly less people looking down on gamers now then their used to be.

I think people stereotype and wrongly assume that gamers don't do anything else but play games. I only look down on people that stereotype and look down on people.
