Do You Believe In Ghosts

I beleive.
My own house is haunted. We think it's the old man who had a heart attack and died there 35 years ago. It's pretty cool actually. He's a mischeivous ghost. I've only heard him but sometimes a visitor claims to have seen his shadow as he passes a window outside.
XOXO

Does anyone here beieve in ghosts? I would not have, except I have seen one. My mother and I saw it in our house. I have also seen one at the Whaley House in San Diego. How about you? Let me know.

I don't necessarily believe in "ghosts," at least not the term... I do believe there is something greater than what we can imagine after death and that it is possible for spirits to become trapped here for whatever reason, as what we typically refer to as "ghosts." I also believe in demons. *shrugs* Just me.

You all are so awesome. Thank You all for the answers and experiences. I appreciate all of you. This is not someting i am totaly open about. I would have told you that it was all a lot of hooey until My mother and I saw a man in the hallway of our home when I was 17. I would have played it off except my mother saw him too. As I stood up from my chair, He turned down the hall and then was simply gone. I also appreciate those that do not believe. We al have a right to our opinion and everyone of them is important. Our country is good like that

Yes, plain and simple.. I have had too many experiences to say it's bunk. I also believe that ghosts are the spirits of those who have passed and are waiting to go to hell.

Chyea! Ghost hunting is so much fun, last time I went I was in this place with a bunch of abandoned houses and stuff and there was some figure creeping around the woods making super loud noises and then disappearing, it was horrifying. Also by the pool you could hear children playing and laughing and stuff.

"Look, I know the supernatural is something that isn't supposed to happen, but it DOES happen."

I have had a few ghostly experiences in my day. One time in particular comes to mind... I was listening to my music loud in my bedroom, jamming away when it suddenly shut off. I went to turn it back on, kept it at the same volume as I did before, then just like last time, it shut off again. I went to turn it back on a third time, but got a sudden cold chill run up my spine as I reached for it. I stopped dead in my tracks for a moment til the chill went away, then turned it back on....only to have it heave itself across the room and smash into pieces against the back of my door....I didn't sleep in that room for another month, nor did I ever get a new radio until we decided to move again later that year. Pretty creepy, huh?

Oh and yes, I believe in ghosts.

That was a Sasquatch.

Would you mind sharing details? When and how did it happen?

I saw him when I was 10. My father passed when I was 2 so don't really remember him. When I saw him I was in my bedroom playing Atari. and then power went out and back on. He was standing at the foot of my bed when the lights came on. He just smiled then turned and walked through the wall. For some reason I wasn't afraid of him even though I didn't know who he was.
I went and told my mother what I saw and what he looked like. She pulled out an old photo album I had not seen and said is this the man you seen I said yes. She told me that it was my father.

Also when I was 15 my grandmother and myself saw a black shadow that looked like a heavy set man pass through the house. A few hours after seeing it the hospital my grandfather was staying in called and said he died through the night of a massive stroke. We figured that the shadow was my grandfather.

Myself and my family have seen too much to not believe in spirits and God

You're welcome:wub: I think a lot of people feel like you do~it only becomes real when one experiences it.

I've a funny story of a used to be non beleiver. The neighbor across the street had a kid in high school. His friends would come by all the time to visit and one day Georgie wasn't home. Mike was leaning against his truck, sweating in the hot sun. I asked him if he wanted to come in for some ice water while he waited and he said yes. I closed the screen behind him, poured his drink and tossed him the remote so he could watch football. Suddenly we heard the screen door open and slam shut. (I always lock it BTW, so the pup can't get out.) Mike asked "What the hell was that?" "Oh, that's just our resident prankster ghost, he does that all the time." He gave me this weird look and said, "I don't beleive in that." "What if it's not up to you? Maybe you don't make the rules." I said with a shrug. Then, we heard a loud POP. I calmly walked to the kitchen and Mike followed. He watched me check out the glass juice bottle from my friend's kid's birthday party from the day before (they asked to use the house for the pool). Mike said "That was the cork popping? That juice isn't even carbonated!" "Yep" I smiled. "Your so-called 'ghost'?" he asked me. "Mmm hmm" I said. I've never seen anyone move so fast in my life~this big strong football stud jammed out the door telling me "thanks for the drink, I can't stay here!" He was out of there like a robbery~I laughed my ass off.

XOXO

I believe that there are spirits in this world. The "ghosts" portrayed/claimed by many, though...? Nah. Most of that is hoax buster fodder.

Ditto! If ghosts were real, there would be a million of them popping up everyday all over the place. I do however believe in the spirit of a person and I think that sometimes helps the mind of a individual create the "figure" or "image" of what appears to be a ghost.

peace out,
daddy

I hope so! If that was him, he is a sneaky bastard...Perhaps it was also him who was playing in the pool, he knows how to have a good time.

Probably. Or his children. Baby sasquatches love to play in pools. They're not great swimmers though, so they have to stay out of the deep end.

I've had so many experiences with people who have passed on that I definitely believe in "spirits" coming back. In our family we have a saying that when you die you don't get to rest, you're assigned a job.

Grandpa does parking. He had terrible arthritis and would always try to get a parking place near the front door - prior to handicapped parking. Now he gets our family parking close to the front door all the time.

Grandma does weather - every family get together is clear, warm and sunny no matter what the weather was an hour before.

Dad does travel - I got automatically upgraded to 1st class travel to Belgium 4 days after he died without any frequent flyer points and also got upgraded to a 5 star hotel in Brussels "by mistake".

Mom does travel. If we get into lots of traffic it will always open up and we'll be moving along at just fine in no time at all.

Grandpa appeared to my Mom in a dream one morning telling her I would be just fine but no details. What she didn't know then was about that same time I was accosted by a man who broke into my apartment and held a knife to my throat. I was just fine and made it out alive and basically unhurt. When my Dad called her and told her what happened she put two and two together.

It's always been a good experience when they make their presence known. I believe that everything that makes up each of us.... our personality, the life force within us, all that energy... it has to go somewhere. All that energy, aka our family spirits, surround us with their love.

I've also experience the darker side of of spirits. I had a man in my life many years ago. When he was around there were darker spirits who caused havoc and were rather frightening. Once he was out of my life those darker spirits disappeared.

I have a picture taken last September when I married my husband. It was cloudy that day, not a piece of blue sky anywhere around. In the picture there is a bright light that appears right above my head almost between us. I know it is Mom showing her delight that I've married the love of my life.

All of this doesn't scare me. The family spirits are guardian angels who help guide us through our lives until the time when we are reunited them them. It's a warm and comforting feeling for me to know they are still around and still loving us now just as much as they did in life.

Hell has a waiting list? Must be a totally bitchin' place to be!

Yes. No choice in it, even if I didn't want to. The house I grew up in was inhabited by both residuals as well as intelligent paranormals. It's not like everyone experienced things once or twice, this went on pretty regularly for over seven years and was witnessed by not only my family, but by friends and visitors as well. Nothing malicious or harmful ever occurred, but I have to admit... by the time I moved out of the house at 20 years old, I wouldn't sleep anyplace else but in my room and only if the dog was with me because things had ramped up enough toward the end, it was giving me serious heebies.

There was no such thing as legitimate Ghost Hunters in Southern IL back then, so it wasn't something we advertised or looked to get help with, lest we get labeled "The Nuts on E. 16th Street". LOL Of course, NOW that entire area is recognized as being chock-full of hauntings and paranormal activity (tons of groundwater and limestone there, we even lived one block from an abandoned limestone quarry) and Troy Taylor is making a living out of writing books about it. Go figure. 🙄

So, yeah. I do. And it does fit in with my Christian faith, but that's not for this section of the forum--will be happy to discuss in PM, if you wanna. 😉
