Do you have questions about NEST? Ask them here!

LD - I do seem to get this question lately, as NEST grows.

I require that information from everyone, for everyone's protection. Not just in case of
an accident that one person alone is involved in, but in case one attendee hurts
someone else, and I need to let the police or other authorities know.

And trust me, I care about everyone who comes to NEST, at NEST. I in no way care
enough about you (all of you! 😉 ) to go stalk you at your house. Or to give your
personal information to anyone else.

Hopefully that's helpful. And if you're not ok with giving out your personal information
to me, I understand. And I'm ok with that. I'm just not ok with you then trying to come
to NEST.

You will find out that this is true of most folks that host gatherings. We are responsible for a large group of very diverse personalities from a wide variety of backgrounds that all have concerns for how they will be treated. Knowing who is attending is a very important part of safety and security of all of them. Any host that would ever give out personal info would not be hosting.

I do understand where you are coming from LD, and I shared your concern for a long time.

The problem with me wasn't necessarily how the members hosting the events would use the information, as to go the lengths to host one places them in a position of power for administrative and security reasons and to abuse that power would inevitably get them blacklisted as word spread, but it was more the third parties... those people or entities that the hosts may somewhat know but have to use in order to maintain the necessary administrative chain to host the event. NEST, for example, my issue was with PayPal as I found their privacy policy to be a little vague and in and of itself unsatisfying: any ONLINE POLICIES are generally not legally binding, they are enforced by the entities who use them.

It becomes a case of risk versus reward: after getting all of the necessary information is the risk of foregoing some of your personal information worth the reward of attending these gatherings, meeting new people and finding out what they're about for yourself? If the risk still outweighs the reward then gatherings may not be in your future.
