Do you like your real name?

I used to hate my name, but my name is pretty amazing actually.

Mairead.

This thread has us regressing to 2nd grade now.

What's in a name?

ah yes the eternal question..what's in a name truly...hmmm....what if we had numbers instead...i'd choose 44..i love that number..

Mine is a name of English kings (Edward). Surname comes from the First Crusade. Family has a real mix of characters. I guess that comes from when all your ancestors could think of was raping, plundering, pillaging and burning until around the 16th century.

BTW, hate Edward, Edwin. Will tolerate Eddie. Rather have Ed. Parents used Edward when I was in deep-doodoo.

People should try search their names in other languajes. Normally it doesn't changes too much, but with a bit of luck sometimes you can find a better way forit. Or like my case you can find it weirder (Yuri...)

Bob. Wish it was something like "Zorthar the Conqueror" or something snazzy like that.

But my name is Bob....

Lewis Black put it best in his "Hurricaine Bob" skit....
"Bob is not a Hurricane. Bob is an insurance salesman...From Topeka Kansas..."

I know a fellow named 'Jari' just as unusual. Maybe 'Jari' and 'Yuri' come from the same root name.

My only issue with my name, Erik, is that people always misspell it as the more common "Eric" with a C. The K spelling is more common in Norway where my family is from.

Could be worse, in France its spelled with a "Q"....actually that could be kinda cool LOL

I like my name a lot. Kyle, short, not too common, but not weird or strange, just different, like me 🙂. The only problem is since my last name starts with a P, I ended up with the nickname KP before me and my friends discovered the show kim possible. Hate that bitch 😛.

My Christian name is perfectly normal, and there were two other boys with the same first name within two blocks of where I grew up. Nevertheless, I thought it was a strange name because none of the boys in the "Dick and Jane" readers had that name.

Got 2 names. I don't like the first, the second is what I use as nickname in real life.

After marrying, it made things worst. I felt like alienated to my true identity having to use the name I'm not born with. It caused me many efforts (and almost a car accident) just to update important/legit ID/s, etc. Then the new name doesn't sound bad but it is too common that I could seem to have thousands of relatives globally.

Um...no, not always. I dated an Eric from France. Though technically he was born in Algeria... but I lived in Switzerland (the French speaking part) and France for almost a year and never saw that spelling. Sorry.
