If so what do you call it? Hoe do you come up with a name for your car?
Or if you haven't got a car right now what would you call it?
Is this just a woman thing, or do men like to name their cars too?

I've named all of my cars including.....
Gertie Ribena Berry (looked like a Ribena Berry)
Bertie Berry (belonged to same Vauxhall family as previous car and it was red)Paddy Peugeot (coz it was green and associated it with an Irish name and had a nice ring to it)

Only had the last one 3 months before it was written off (other driver went into the back of me). Now I've got another one- another Peugeot and I'm struggling to think of a name for once lol. Want to have alliteration to it as in P P. Thought of Purdy Peugeot- coz it purs along nicely-really nice and smooth to drive. lol. Or Pixie Peugeot coz it's random. Pearl or Pearly Peugeot- coz of the colour.

I think I'd find it odd at this stage if I didn't name my car hence why I'm trying to think of one still rather than just giving up.

i've attached picture of my car- any name ideas will be most welcome 🙂

Do I name my CAR? That depends. Is "blue piece of utter shit" a name? :stickout

You are not the only person to name their car. Everyone in my family at one time or another named their cars. Every car I've ever had, I gave a name to.

Prior car names have been Madonna, Nena, Cynthia, Pandora, Charisma, Tatiana, and my current car, Tasha.

I'm going to run Tasha into the ground, and when it's time for a new one, I think this one will be named Jayna. lol

Ive had two Crown Victorias and the names i had for them have been pretty obvious. There was Vicky and then there's Vicky II and i love them both... especially the big back seats 😉

I don't think it's exclusively a woman thing. I don't name my cars, but I had a very old VW bus the previous male owner called Buzz.

Nice looking car.

No clear winners here, but it was fun trying to make an alliteration list:

Penelope Peugeot
Pirouette Peugeot (good cornering)
Panama Peugeot
Petite Peugeot
Patience Peugeot
Patrice Peugeot
Pacifica Peugeot
Pepper Peugeot
Porsche Peugeot (as in "my other car is Peugeot Porsche")

Lee

Thanks all for your posts and ideas. Nice to hear that I'm not the only one!lol
I had seen this name before when I was searching and then CD mentioned it too...so decided to call it Pandora... Pandy for short. So I'm happy now she has a name 🙂

God help me if I ever have kids and I have to think of a name.....:lol

Parn? 😵 Why would Alfred or Mitch be on the bad list when compared to....Parn....? Why would most things be for that matter lol.

Been hoping for a thread like this to turn up....

No, I don't name my car. Only one I came close to naming was a 76 Corolla I had in the early 90s, called it the Klingon Battle Cruiser after it survived hitting a deer (that car was a solid metal mini-tank)

I depend on my car, maybe even 'love' it (it's the best car I've ever had, a black Honda) and certainly have a full-blown symbiotic relationship with it- but I never think of it as a 'she' like a sailor with his ship. It's an 'it' to me; I think of it almost as a living thing, not an animal but a huge metal bug...

No, I've never named a car. Don't know why really I guess I just never thought about it. I just called them what they were. For example I would ask my g/f...so do you wanna take the Chev, the Ford or your crappy Dodge? lol

For the record I just wanna say to all you Mopar lovers I don't actually find Dodge crappy. I just like driving her nuts thats all.

Funny I saw this thread when I did... I'm purchasing a new car within a few hours from now (Firebird) and I've already got a name chosen for her... Her callsign will be Raven. My former car's name is Haven... and she lived up to her name. In roughly six years, nothing bad EVER happened when I was driving her... cops just seemed to overlook the fact that I was baked as all hell, and let me pass... lol... who woulda thought that naming your ride can make you invincible?

We had a volvo from the 70s that we aptly named "Raggedy Anne"
A cobalt blue mazda named "big blue"
A mauve-red something called "Rosetta"

My forest green saturn station wagon that I drove all through high school was named "Dilly" on account of it looking like a pickle.

My ex girlfriends all named my car, awkward because they named her different names

My Jeeps name will be Kane, it means warrior and intellegent ^_^ My husband vmandude helped me come up with the name

I used to name my cars. I used to have a Nissan Sentra, named it Niecy (Dumb) then when I got my Chevy Impala I named it Paula (Not much of a stretch) Now I have a Camry, but probably won't name it anything.

I finally Decided my Pontiac G5 GT coupe is named Scarlett, Since it is a Victory Red color

When I had my Fleetwood, I named it Bluella. Not very original, but it was blue and that's what came to mind even though I primarily called it my Tuna Boat. :lol

Now that I have my Contours, I haven't decided on a name yet. Maybe Tanya because it's tan. Lol. *shrug*

I have a worthless POS '96 Ford Taurus -pauses while everyone exchanges whispers and laughter and begins with the "why you should never have a taurus" speech-

Ah-hem... and his name is Paco. Why? he just looks like a Paco... and he like tacos but that's another story entirely.

I don't think that naming a car is female thing. Any one can give names to their cars as depends on their interest. I never used to name my cars even though loved my car as my pet and I used to ride always at my free times.. I don't think that naming a car is big thing but how you treat that car is the most important and how you ride it..

I have named a few of the big rigs I drove over the years.

Ursa

Kara

I am in Jill Valentine now.

At first I read the title of this thread as 'Do you tickle your car?'. For the record, I tickle my car sometimes.

It hasn't got a name though.

Mine's Bonnie, she's a 1999 Bonneville and sometimes I call her Bonnie the Birch Tit when she pisses me off lol
