It's so refreshing to see so many animal lovers...carnivores included!

As a small animal vet, I get to see them all...and I have 5 of my own (3 cats: 2 siamese, 1 oriental shorthair) and 2 mutts (1 Humane Society rescue who had the misfortune of being spayed by yours truly). I have to say I grew with dogs and loved them, especially the dearly departed (Sugar, Freckles, Buffy, Nina). But I always wanted a cat...had to wait til I got to vet school to get one...only to discover that you can never have just one cat! And the truth is, unlike dogs, cats aren't content to just be there with you (ok, they are content if you give them food and some catnip!), but they "own" you...and mine are pretty vocal about that. As for the wild kingdom of dave's....wow! You're a vet's dream! You should have considered that as a career choice...but I'll just call you a martry! Personally, I'm also fond of the larger companion animals although I don't have any of my own...horses are quite intelligent beasts, just not as cheap to maintain and not into curling on one's lap. All baby animals are adorable...from piglets to mice...until they open their eyes and grow hair 🙂 And goats are just cool...

BTW Slappy - great topic! Always love to talk about four legged friends.

I dont hate dogs, I'm just more of a cat person. They dont get in your way as much and they don't bark when they hear something😛 😀

Cats

Nothing against dogs (they are man's best friend after all) but I've always been a cat person.

You don't have to clean up after cats. And even though cats are independent animals, if you take care of them as kittens, they can grow up and be very sociable, lovable creatures.

We have three cats in my house and they always hop op onto your lap when you're sitting down and are always looking for affection. (Awwwwwwwwwww......)

The only problem with Cats that I've seen is they always love to scratch at the most expensive piece of furniture in the house!

I have a cat that I sort of inherited. IT was my moms. She passed away in 94 and the cat became my grandmothers. She is not doing well and is in a Rehab home. Not the Cat is mine.

I love dogs! Border Collies, Huskys and Golden Retrievers are my favs but Unfortunatly I am sometimes NOT home for long periods of time and feel as if a dog would be lonely and somewhat neglected ergo I have to be without for now.

This darn cat is very independant and self sufficient. Along with sometimes being quite antisocial and a pain in the @ss
