Yes, I always enjoyed the long Easter weekend before I retired.
Fordham being a Jesuit university, we got off five days in a row (Holy Thursday to Easter Monday) every year.

I went to catholic grammar school and we had this whole week off and I think Easter Monday too. I saw the kids around town and in the movie theater I went to. A preview of summer.

The reason that Fordham was closed on Easter Monday was so that out-of-town students could fly home on Thursday, spend all of Good Friday through Easter Sunday with their families, and fly home on Monday (with no classes until Tuesday).
A nice idea, but I heard students talking about a full weekend spent in Atlantic City.

I'm sure, too. They surely engaged in vice of one form or another in Atlantic City.

My grams used to love going to Atlantic City. She passed away in 2009. But she would go 5-6 times a year. She always said if she took back the money she went with she was happy.

Indeed. I never went to a casino. I feel like I do have an addictive personality (like I'm very routine and get addicted to doing certain things often) but fortunately my addictions for the most part have turned out to be healthy ones (exercise, running instead of alcohol, smoking and gambling).

Hopefully. I'm posting a little less this morning because I've got some update being done on my computer for when I need to work from home. Luckily my brother who works in IT got me a newer computer.

Adjusting to a new computer can be intimidating. That is why my last two laptops were purchased in 2013 and 2023. I stuck with the one bought in 2013 as long as it still functioned.

I remember when my dad got a coleco? I don't know if that is how you spell it and my uncle had an atari when I was very young. Crazy to think how we went from playing games on those type of systems to the games now that play like movies and feel like real life.

The first computer that I actually used was an IBM 360/90 for a course in computer science in 1969. It was larger than a row of four washing machines, it cost over $2,000,000, and it had a memory of 1200 KB = 0.0012 GB.

The thought that someday I would be able to hold in my hand a computer (known as a smartphone) that cost less than $2,000 and had a memory of 128 GB would have seemed wildly insane, totally absurd, beyond silly science fiction.

Yes, those mind-boggling advances in computer technology came in just half a century.
The IBM 360/90 had to be specially ordered by a major research university.
Today, we are bombarded by ads to sell us smartphones that will be shipped to us overnight.

The one thing I really don't want to ever have is a self-driving car. I guess I'm a control freak (hence why I hate flying) and it's funny the way I drive (speeding sometimes etc.) I still feel safer than someone else driving me slower.

I understand that. I am not a skilled driver, but I still wouldn't like to ride in a self-driving car. I have seen too many computers do too many wrong things to trust one to drive me.

You can't computerize the human element/reaction sometimes I don't think. It's not the nicest weekend here with the weather but hope you have a good one. I'll be in and out all weekend.
