Always on the look out for something that will make me more ticklish....just kind of wondering if exercise can help. I mean exercise is supposed to increase blood flow. If I can get more blood flow to my ticklish areas...that might be a good thing. crunches or some other abdominal work perhaps? What about stretching? Are looser muscles more ticklish? Will yoga help? I can at least squirm a lot more if my body is more limber. 🙂

Warm up for muscles helps to increase sensitivity to touch, as well as using hot massage oil.
Apart from this, I haven't really noticed significant change in ticklishness after some workout or stretching in the girls we have tickled.

Tickletherapist, thanks for your reply. I think having a flexible athletic body may help in some positions.(hog tie and other positions where the lee is sort of hanging standing on his/her tiptoes). Probably it is easier to relax if your are flexible and athletic. I've heard people are more ticklish when they are relaxed.

Exercise improves everything.... .... 'cept for that groove in the couch.

Interesting subject!
I love exercising.....sometimes getting tickled is an exercise! For the abs hehehe

But honestly, after I go running...when I take off my sneakers and socks my feet are EXTREMELY more ticklish than normal...
My feet are where I am most ticklish....but after I exercise it becomes too extreme...I can't hold my own pee if I get tickled on my feet and its like omg just awful hahaha don't get started!

SO YES! I agree, with the feet at least after a good work out that it makes tickling way more extreme. hahaha
Only 2 people have ever tickled my feet after a work out.....they didnt live to tell the tale ! Totally kidding!!! hahaha they did get kicked though!

xoxo :xpeepsofa

should exercise anyway, may increase your endurance so you can take more, dish out more, maybe even resist a little more to make things interesting. I've heard rumors that exercising will increase your sensitivity plus you'll be healthy too, just don't go too skinny.

What exercise improves is stamina. The more fit you are, the longer your session can go.

good cardio I would think. esp on the part of the lee

<---- this! When its raining and I don't want to go out, it makes such a great alternative to pilates.

I think flexibility makes tickling a lot more fun, both the positions you can put your body in, and how long you can hold them for. I think everyone saying that fitness in general helps is right: you can last longer, squirm more, and do it all while being relaxed

I completely agree!!!

I feel like you'd have to get tickled for like 3 days straight to burn any type of real calories

Seriously? Maybe you were tickled only lightly 🙂
Tickle therapy sessions are quite impressive in terms of burning calories.

After one session I personally did the woman then told me that she lost 3lb.
I think it's pretty obvious that tickling burns calories. Btw, there's a myth that sex burns lots of calories. Ticke therapy is much more effective in this way, it's not just an opinion.

LMFAO. I didn't say it didn't burn any but that the amount burned was insignificant. Laughing burns like 30 calories an hour. Don't believe all you're told. if it really burned serious calories, I'd be a size 2 with a six pack.

I think I told nothing unbelievable. Nothing much to lie about if I wanted 🙂
It depends on many things of course. The intensity of tickling, the sensitivity and reactions of the person being tickled. For example that woman who lost weight was of that type who struggles hard and doesn't give up, thrashing and laughing. We worked her good on her weakest spots - sides and ribs. So that was quite a work out and I don't see a reason not to believe her feedback.

Laughing may burn 30 calories an hour, but you have to consider:
1) what exact laughter it is
2) tickle therapy is not just laughter but all this tension, twitching and thrashing you may induce when the person is properly fixated.
Of course light feather tickling that Spanish therapists in Madrid do wouldn't ever burn decent number of calories.

Having said that, of course tickling only couldn't be enough to burn all your excessive calories and become fit, it's mainly about other things but this is a nice bonus effect.

I can't tell, chicago, if you are tickled the way that is effective in burning calories, how exactly you are ticklish and what reactions you have, and, which is more important, what you eat and what's your lifestyle. Maybe it can be effective for you, maybe just not even if you get days of tickle torture 🙂 It's very individual, depending on many things.

What I'm telling you is that we had much practice with a lot of people and for many of them tickle therapy was a real calories burner. You could just see real sweat in some tickle therapy clips to believe it, which is hard to fake 🙂

So, she burned 10,500 calories in that time frame? lol

A 150 lb. person who sprints at a speed of 10 mph for one minute will burn around 20 calories. 20 calories x 60 minutes = 1200 calories per hour. I really doubt that tickling, restrained or unrestrained, as intense as it can get, would burn more than sprinting for an hour straight. Unless, it was a 10 hour session or something, which also seems a bit incredible.

I'm sorry, maybe it's possible, I'm no doctor, but that seems really amazing.

So you count weight only in calories? 🙂 It's obvious that it was also her sweat that went out of her. Where did you get that 10,500 number? )
If it's some misunderstanding here - I meant losing weight just after the session, when she came home and checked it.

I personally play volleyball, soccer and ice hockey and it doesn't seem to me really amazing how my weight changes when I come home.

I'm not telling you the exact number of calories tickling can burn, there's no such research yet of course. But to say that tickling can't really burn calories.. Come on, it's so obvious, isn't it? It's a workout for muscles, sometimes they ache after the tickle therapy session. The same as after running or doing sports. That's why we usually finish it with oil massage for muscle relaxation.

Tickling can be great cardio, all the sweating and heavy breathing, it's like running really.
I know the day after a big session as the lee my muscles hurt from the struggle in the bonds.
To PrincessC above its because your feet are warmed up. I know a few ppl on her that bring hair dryers to sessions to warm the feet up before tickling to increase blood flow and sensitivity.
Warm but not sweaty is the key here...

Again, I didn't say tickling doesn't burn calories. I said the amount burned is not significant enough to be considered a form of exercise. And I'm not saying you're lying, only that I find it very unlikely that a person getting tickled would burn more energy than someone sprinting for hours. Just my opinion, we don't have to agree. It just seems astonishing.

Of course no one said a person would burn more. Or that getting tickled will make you a better sprinter 🙂 It just burns.
We are talking different things so there's nothing to argue about 🙂
Happy tickles.

That's probably true. Being tickled for three days would be both fun and amazing + cruel and unusual torture 😀
