I'm a couple years shy of 35, but I'm still a total music geek.

I listen to virtually everything; but in terms of percentages, the main genres I listen to are punk, pretty much anything with the suffix 'billy' attached, post-punk, industrial, and the ever amorphous concept of indie.

My five favorite bands off the top of my head are U2, The Replacements, The Stones, The Pogues, and The Clash.

In terms of stuff I'm really liking right now, I'm enjoying Cloud Nothings, Japandroids, and Parquet Courts.

Hey there Bug, I saw Mr. Collins in the late 80s at Toad's Place in CT. Unfortunely he was having major sound problems that night and it took awhile to get things together. But when problems cleared up, he was on fire! I remember a smoking version of "I Ain't Drunk" with backing vocals by his entire band including guitarist Debbie Davies. And Albert strutted offstage and walked right out of the club with his 100 ft. guitar cord to play solos for passing traffic! All in all, a fantastic show!!

I'm a proghead: Genesis, Marillion, Yes, Tull, King Crimson, Pallas, IQ, Guru Guru, Pink Floyd, Pendragon, Hawkwind, Magma, Galahad, Nektar, Tangerine Dream, Caravan, Soft Machine, Anima Mundi, Clowns, Novalis and Ayreon to name a few.

Oh, and George Jones.

Some excellent choices...IJ!! I know some...and some I don't. I've probably heard some of the stuff...just never caught the names of the groups.
Along the lines of prog., I don't know...I just like the sound of mixing "classical" instruments with good rock sound!!!
Like I mentioned earlier...ELP...with Keith's synthesizers, organs and pianos...and an occasional pipe organ!!
Also, as previously mentioned...Jethro Tull...and Ian's flute!!! Kinda strange, at first...but it works within their lyrical content!!
Would also like to mention...ELO...and their "electric violins"...not to mention Jeff's vocals!! (we could mention Kansas too, with violins)
And one last shout out...ANGEL!!...I think they only put out 3 or 4 albums...but had the most unique logo I ever saw...looks the same right side up...and UPSIDE DOWN!!!
I guess that's another "two cents worth", from me!! 🙂

I saw Albert three times while living in Houston. And sure enough, at each show he walked down the clubs center aisle and out the door onto the sidewalk of Washington Ave. A few of us followed him out while he jammed away. The man knew how to put on a show.

Anything from the 90's grunge and of course, everything before that. Beatles, Zeppelin, The Doors. And of course JAZZ!!!!! I am very eclectic. Also love rockabilly and ska! 😀

I always figured you were eclectic Jazz. 😛

Why is it (almost) always down to me as a Brit to stand up for America's greatest and most original contribution to music....Jazz. I love it all, but my main area of interest is "modern Jazz" or in other words Bebop onwards. I have been in to Lennie Tristano since I was a teenager, I love his version of "I dont stand a Ghost of a chance with you" made in 1947. It still has the power to disturb and upset many of my friends who consider themselves connoisseurs of rebellious and contraversial rock and pop music of the last forty of fifty years. It never seems to occur to them how conservative and reactionary they sound in being repelled by music performed in 1947!
