Just curious to see who everyone's all-time favorite villain(s) were and why. I've always identified with the villain so I find this sort of thing interesting.

Mine: Freddy Krueger - There's just something about Freddy that set him apart from the others in my mind. Freddy made no bones about the fact that he liked what he did...and the grislier the better. Not only that, Freddy had Panache. Freddy had style. Freddy had imagination. He didn't just want to kill you, he want to subject you to your worst fear...he wanted to bump you off in some ironic way...he wanted to take your teenage coloquialism and ram it right down your throat. And you've gotta admitt, the claw was cool.

Runners up: Darth Vader
Thanos
The Tall Man
Grand Admiral Thrawn

Pennywise the Clown from "It"

This character, in my opinion, is the embodiement of sheer terror. I can't read this book without having nightmares. A demonic clown that kills children.. now that's some villainous goodness.

****

Freddy vs Pennywise .. now there's a fist fight i wouldn't wanna miss.

Freddy is also my one of my favorites.
But... Lucius Malfoy is a good one as well.
I loved Darth Vader... 'til they took that damned helmet off and I saw "Uncle Fester's face. I wanted to write Lucas a nasty letter over that.
Hannibal Lecter is pretty cool, but I wouldn't want to have dinner with him.
And I just love Q from Star Trek TNG!

I forgot about Hannibal! Hell yeah. Always liked the super intelligent villains.

It rubs the lotion on it's skin...

Now THAT would be a fight to see! (as long as Fred wasn't fighting the pennywise from the movie...stupid silver earring bullshit)

'It' is one of my favourite books ever. Read it loads of times. Pennywise is a fantastic villain!

I'm going to vote for Darth Vader though, because he's probably one of cinema's most iconic baddies.

And on a personal note... I really like Ash from 'Alien', the android. Not a famous villain, but a magnificently nasty one (that scene where he tries to choke Ripley with a rolled up magazine is horrible... :scared: ), and wonderfully played by one of my favourite actors, Ian Holm.

'I can't lie to you about your chances, but... you have my sympathy.'

Holm also played the BEST character in Lord of the Rings; Bilbo Baggins! Great bloke.

Good topic. I used to have so many; perhaps I'll pop in here again :bubble: . The only one other than Darth Vader, the horror movie monsters, and the James Bond villians (OddJob) that readily comes to mind is Rutger Hauer's replicant in Blade Runner. I thought he was very memorable. Oh, and Sollozo (the turk) in The Godfather. That scene in the restaurant between he ('I'm not that clever') and Al Pacino is priceless.

Very cool. I thought his demise (throwing himself against the walls) was an incredible stroke of acting.

Yeah, it was brilliant. He's such a talent. And I've just remembered...to bring this back on topic...he played another villain, one of the most infamous real life villains that ever existed. He played Jack the Ripper in 'From Hell', the film with Johnny Depp and Heather 'so I need to get my tits out for this role, yeh?' Graham :blaugh:

You guys have listed some GREAT villians.

I've always like Predator. That invisibility thing rocks! I wish I could do that to a select few people I know.... :bouncybou

One I always forget to include in the villian threads... Nurse Ratchet from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. That bitch was infuriating!

Vincent from the Cowboy Bebop Movie is a good villain. Both in terms of being an extremly complex character with motives that define him and he's also a complete bad arse.

Darth Vader
Dr Doom
Randall Flagg
Cersei Lannister
Ishmael/Moridin

If you know who the latter two are, then you rule

so many choices, but to pick one i would have to go with the villain, a military colonel, from the movie "blue thunder", watching him and roy sheider (the hero) in a helicopter dogfight to the death in the end was amazing, i can never get tired of watching the blue thunder helicopter finally blow the bad guy to smithereens in the end. :atom:
