1965, I believe. Now on to the rest of my post...

Has anyone mentioned Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine? "1-2-3" and "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You" come to mind. Shame on all of you! 😀

UnChained Melody is one of my favorites too Tracy. The 80's had some great music, I was raised on the Golden Oldies and I listen to them still! Katherine

Here they are in no particular order:
1) Every Metallica album released in the 80s was outstanding(a three page thread and noone has said a word about them)!
2) "Synchronicity" by the Police, if you listen carefully during the middle there is an excellent guitar solo buried deep within the mix.
3) "Wich Hunt" by rush, although I don't care for most of their stuff, this song is great.
4)Any dead milkmen fans here? "Surfin Cow" has got to be my favorite.
5)Faith No More deserves a mention for the entire "Real Thing" album.
6)Bad Religon "I Want to Conquer the World", and "Frogger" are my personal favorites.

That's all I can think of right now.

There was so much great music in the '80's from a vast array of genres that it's hard to just pick a few. I'll probably wind up posting a few times here as more come to mind. Here's a few that stick out in my mind at the moment;

Mexican Radio - Wall of Voodoo (Just a great, wacky tune)

The entire Power Windows and Hold your Fire albums - Rush

Don't Cry - Asia (hell, anything by Asia...but this one had one of the coolest videos back when MTV still showed them)

Kayliegh - Marillion (lifted from a concept album, so technically, the whole album was just one song)

Sunglasses at Night - Cory Hart (Smooth, eerie and more powerful than most '80's synth stuff)

Rhythm of Love - Scorpions (typical nasty shagging tune)

All We Are - Warlock (the best metal band with a female singer...ever)

I Can't Fight This Feeling - REO Speedwagon (Actually I never really liked the song, I was more into '70's REO...but it was the first song I got laid to, so it holds a special place in my heart)

Wait for You - Bonham (Zep-like power ballad)

Lay it Down - Ratt (one of the coolest riffs in metal)

Touch and Go - ELP (pretty decent album, even if it was a half-assed comeback)

I'll probably think of a thousand more before this one's over...

"JellyRoll" -Blue Murder
"Serpentine" -"Kings of the Sun"
"The Mask" -Roger Glover
"Sausalito Summer" -Diesel
"You Can Leave Your Hat On" -Joe Cocker

Drew😉

Man.. the memories and all these lists! 🙂

Manic Monday, Eternal Flame and Walk Like An Egyptian by The Bangles.

Poison by Alice Cooper. (That's one for the Meemster!)

Ace Of Spades by Motorhead. (The same group who do Triple H's music in the WWF.) (I WILL NEVER...AND WHEN THE LIMEY SAYS NEVER...HE MEANS NEVER!!!! CALL IT THE WWE!!!!)

You Came by Kim Wild.

Africa by Toto. (As featured on GTA Vice City. YESSSS!!!)

Down Under by Men at Work. (That's for biggles!)

99 Red Ballons by Nena.

Axel F by Harol Faltermeyer. (Not a song I know, but cool music anyway.)

The Final Countdown by Europe.

You Keep Me Hangin'On by Kim Wid again.

And to finish it all, Through The Barricades by Spandau Ballet. There's probably more, but that's enough reminiscing for one day.😀

How 'bout ...(I just want to be your) "lovergirl" by .....Teena Marie (?)

I loved Laura Branigan, too!
My favorites of the 80's? Wow...
ok, not at the top of the charts, but I was a big fan of Survivor (although no one seems to recall any of their songs other than Eye of the Tiger). Likewise, just like the 70's, any Billy Joel or Elton John piece. And for the sentimental side, We Are the World and That's What Friends Are For 🙂

Wow, is there some connection between great 80's music and a love of tickling?

Has anyone suggested "Jessie's Girl" by Rick Springfield or "Call Me" by Blondie? 🙂

Like watching American Psycho...

Ye gads, man. I thought this thread was dead.

But, just like the 80's, it comes back to haunt us!!

:shake: Woooooooooooooo!! :wow:

Cheers.😀
