I agree with you 100%. Let's listen to the Phillies talk. The Yankee talk is enough to make you vomit. I think ESPN is choking the Yankee chicken it is just sickening.

I like the fact that you hear all about the Yankees. They are from the largest market in the country, have by far the most success and iconic history in MLB. They have the largest payroll which is an insanely unfair advantage; but at least ownership will spend the money to win.

Why shouldn`t the Phillies get their kudos as well. back to back world series appearances and made the shrewdest move of all by acquiring Lee.

MLB got exactly what it wanted from its final four teams. They all came from big-market areas !

I hate the Phillies for two reasons 1) They knocked off the Mets two years in a row (sour grapes mind you) 2) They don't know how to keep their mouths shut. This is a franchise that won for the 1st time in like 25 years in 2007 and they act like they have won every year before that.

That has been the Yankees tradition. Spend as much money as you can to get the best free agent. Money doesn't by everything. They have spent money over the years and have gotten burned. Remember Carl Pavano or Danny Tartabull.

If I were building a team. I would get a name player or two and build around that. You have to spend some money but not top dollar at every position and roster spot. With the payroll the Yankees have, they better hope they sell out every game next season to pay for their new stadium (which I affectionately refer to it as "The House That GREED Built).
