Feet & Tickling in Prime Time?

I am watching this show regularly and I have not noticed it once, seriously. 🙂

REALLY? There are usually 4-5 foot shots per episode. Last week, there were a half dozen up close shots of soles inthe first 10 minutes of the show. There was one episode ("Paradise", 2008) that started with a car accident, then cut to a shot of a woman's soles on a car's dashboard. Later in the episode, this same woman is tied to a bed and everytime she spoke to her husband, who is tied to a chair, all you see in the bottom of the screen are her toes wiggling.
In another episode ("North Mammon", 2006), 3 soccer players are kidnapped and held in a warehouse. They are barefoot the entire episode and their feet are always focused on.
They've done scenes where it ends with a quick "whip-around" (many different related shots, one after another) and almost always, the last shot is of the woman's feet, bound in place.
There are many more, but this thread will become way too long. 🙂

Could they be using all the foot imagery to symbolise inasinces/venerability in the female victim??.. it goes into the false perception the media still has that a female victim is still more vulnerable in society??.

Lots of brief scenes show up in primetime, but they are usually brief.

It's probably more a case of paying more attention to it than someone who isn't into feet - such as me 🙂 - would. Plus, my "last week's episode" is not the one you would see. 😉

Hmmms, tickling as a method of "advanced interrogation tactics"?? If water-boarding has been done, this has to be legal. I do know it happens at NEST 😉

One of the reasons I lfet the television industry is related to this. TV, especially dramas tend to "dumb down" things to appeal to what they call a "broader audience", so in medical shows, they learn how to say a lot of medical thigs, but they rarely apply the medical terms correctly; often mentioning a drug that most people recognize, but saying it was used ina manner not consistent with the drug.
Criminal Minds has been very good to follow psychological theories very closely, but they do often make someone's fixation or attraction to something seem much more "disturbed" than it really is. There isn't a legitimate phychiatry paper in the world that will tell you that having a foot fetish is like having an illness that needs to be cured. But if you watch psychological dramas, they do often portray anyone having even an attraction to feet as a psycho, more often than not. They may not say it on Criminal Minds, but it is often implied.

All that being said, I think also most of the time, the female victims on the show are barefoot because being barefoot often means being helpless to run.

BTW, Rhiannon, now your earlier reply is clearer to me. I didn't even think about the episode shifts in Europe (is it on ARD, RTL or ZDF?) and that you may not be into feet. 🙂

I don't know how many of you watched this past season of Celebrity Rehab on VH1. I would highly recommend it if you haven't. It's a guilty pleasure of mine I guess you could say. But I digress. Anyway, there were many close-up barefoot shots of both Rachel Uchitel and Janice Dickinson throughout this past season. And they both have very nice feet I must say. Just wondering if anyone else happened to catch this past season of Celebrity Rehab.

BTW, Rhiannon, now your earlier reply is clearer to me. I didn't even think about the episode shifts in Europe (is it on ARD, RTL or ZDF?) and that you may not be into feet.

It's on SAT1, actually. 🙂 Right now they show a mix of old episodes (Gideon is still there, go figure 😉 ) and new ones. I might have to buy the DVD collection.

The only person on that show that makes me want to see their feet is JJ. She is just about the most gorgeous woman I've ever seen! I don't watch the show that often and haven't seen the episode mentioned but there is some foot related stuff in it. Shows a bit too dark to get excited about anything but its there.
