The only reason I can think of not to like any word is because you think people think it means something other than what you'd use it to mean. For example, there's nothing undesirable in the technical meaning of "ticklephile," but I think that since it so easily reminds people of the word "pedophile," they transfer the negativity associated with "pedophile" to any word ending with "-phile," and feel bad about using the word. I feel fine about using the words "fetish" and "ticklephile" because I know that if anyone else perceives a negative vibe from either, they merely misunderstand their definitions.
I remember being fascinated about tickling-- and other things-- before I was aware that those inclinations were anything but perfectly normal. I even remember showing one of my friends a tickling-related web site in my early teenage years and saying something like... "so, wait. Doesn't this kind of thing... fascinate you?"
Now and then, there has been a story describing some completely new scenario or activity which I've found equally fascinating (so, yes, my interests have "developed" in the way I think you meant). It's not the activity itself that I have a fixation on; it's the emotional dynamic which to which the activity is subservient. I suppose you could say I have a lot of "fetishes," but it wouldn't be any more helpful than saying I have a lot of different favourite movies. Why are those movies my favourites? They must have something in common.
