ok for all the sci fi geeks out there.
Name you favorite movie, tv series and book.

was the new star trek movie, now its Avatar (Imax 3d is freakin AWESOME)

DS9 (i always liked how is was so different from the other series')

a tossup between Robert Asprin's Phule series and Simom R Green's Nightside books.

Favorite SciFi movie of all-time would have to be Star Wars (the original). For those of you who weren't old enough to be around when it first hit the theaters, it was a cultural phenomenon. The special effects may not look like much now compared to the movies of the 21st century, but it was so far ahead of it's time (in 1977) it was amazing. There will never be anything like it again. Just my opinion. Actually though, I may have slightly liked Empire Strikes Back better than the original Star Wars, but they are #1 and #1A in my book.

Favorite tv series would be Battlestar Galactica (the original and the newer series). At first, I didn't like the newer Battlestar Galactica, but after I gave it more of a chance, it was some incredible television.

tv series = Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (Jadzia Dax was SO fine!)

movie = (it's so incredibly difficult to choose just one) Transformers: The Movie (after all these years, it still holds a special place in my imagination)

book = (tie) The Time Machine and War of the Worlds both by H.G. Wells

Movie: Star Wars (pre-suck)

TV-Series: Tossup between Stargate SG1 and Star Trek: The Next Generation

Book: The Foundation series by Isaac Asimov

Movie: Blade Runner - Director's Cut (no voiceover is moar better)

TV Show: Star Trek: The Next Generation

Book: Brave New World by Aldous Huxley

Movie.........Too many to choose from, impossible.

T.V. show........Firefly. (Babylon 5, a close second)

Book.......I don't read books.

Drew

Movie: In terms of greatness, the obvious answer is 'Empire...'

As per faves, 'Wrath of Khan' is probably the best TREK flick and has some great unintentional comedy. '2001 A Space Odyssey' blew my mind the second time I watched it (once I understood it and stayed awake) and 'The Matrix' is/was classic.

So hard to choose...

TV Show: 'Beast Wars' was cheesy, but remains a fave of mine (and when it hit stride @ the end of season 2, it blew my friggin mind!)

Book: I guess Watchmen or LXG would qualify as a sci-fi. If not... I guess I'll have to start reading.

***BONUS***

Video Game: Final Fantasy VII, hands down.

FF III and VI are great for 16-32 bits, but VII takes the cake beyond a shadow of a doubt.

TV show: Doctor Who

Book: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Movie: I honest to God can't decide there are WAAAY too many movies I can think of. Although, I guess if I had to pick the most momentous Science-Fiction movie for me it would have to be Jurassic Park. Simply because it was the first movie I ever saw in a movie theater!

*These are other books/movies/TV shows that I do have to seriously acknowledge:*

books: Watchmen, A Wrinkle in Time, The Giver

TV shows: Star Trek (Original series & Next Generation, although I did like the other shows as a kid, I just haven't seen them recently enough to be a fair judge), Firefly, Futurama, Mystery Science Theater 3000, Blake's 7, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Prisoner (The original version), and The Twilight Zone

Movies: *Takes a deep breathe* Back To The Future Trilogy (The first and second one might actually be my favorite sci-fi movies), Original Star Wars Trilogy, The first two Terminators, Alien, Aliens, Star Trek, Star Trek II, III, IV, & VI, Serenity, Watchmen, Iron Man, The Day the Earth Stood Still (Original), John Carpenter's The Thing, X-Men, X2, the Spider-Man movies, the first two Superman movies, A Clockwork Orange, The Matrix, Minority Report...I'm sure there's more but that's all I feel needs to be mentioned for now.

Movie: The Empire Strikes Back

TV show: Babylon 5 (so underappreciated...)

Book: Starship Troopers

One flew over the cuckoo's nest, Star Trek TOS, Stephen King's The Stand.

I liked Star Wars and, to a lesser extent, Spacehunter.

For TV shows, I liked Firefly the best. It was the only show on Space Channel that I could tolerate.

For books, my favourite was "Robot Revolt." It was one of those "Chrysalids-type" tweener books but I got a kick out of it.

TV show: Doctor Who, Firefly or SG-1.
Movie: Starship Troopers, Empire Strikes Back.
Book: Starship Troopers, Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy.

1. New Star Trek. Couldn't have asked for more.
2. Toss up between Firefly and DS9 - Firefly would win hands down if they'd made more episodes.
3. Codex Alera by Jim Butcher. Kind of more fantasy, but totally cool. The Honor Harrington series is pretty neat too.

Movie: the latest Star Trek movie was fannnnntastic, Iron Man, Watchmen, Serenity

TV Show: I think it's a toss-up between Star Trek TOS and Dollhouse. I know, I know, Dollhouse didn't last long but I am completely obsessed with it at the moment. Also Firefly and most anything Joss Whedon birthed...

Book: The Giver (my favorite book of all time since I read it at age ten), Coraline, Brave New World

Movie: "Forbidden Planet" with Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis, and Leslie Nielsen

TV series: Star Trek (the original)

Book: the Foundation trilogy by Isaac Asimov [If I have to pick one book only, "Second Foundation" from this trilogy.]

Movie: Empire Strikes Back/Fellowship of the Ring

TV show: The ORIGINAL "V" & Final Battle

Book: Stephen King- Misery/The Mangler

TV series-Star trek or BSG
Movie-Aliens or Predator
Book-Night watch or Final watch

Bladerunner. The way it depicted the future is incredible, even today, despite the fact that the date of these depictions was way too early.

Movies
Return of the Jedi - Jabba the Hutt, Ewoks getting killed, Princess Leia's metal bikini;
Barbarella - introduced the Orgasmatron(tm) (I gotta get me one of them!)
Flesh Gordon - Best space porn parody ever!

TV Shows
Space: Above and Beyond - Holy crap was that a good show!
Red Dwarf - I see a lot of myself in Lister

Books
The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Universe series - also made a great TV series...shame about the movie.
The Xanth series by Piers Anthony - I grew up with these books

Movie: Star Trek (2009)

TV Show: Star Trek DS9 and Voyager (I'm actually watching Voyager right now lol)

I don't have a fave book.
