Forum continually logging me out

I am waiting for it but am fairly certain I know the culprit. There's a task scheduled to run every day at 11:42 CST, or the 12:42 EST and 9:42 PST times many have reported (the server is CST, being in Texas). It is the update script for control panel software on the server. If I experience the issue tonight I will try disabling that task for tomorrow; if it doesn't happen then we'll know it's that script and I can take a closer look at the little bugger.
 
Well, that certainly seems to be the issue. Nothing else is occurring at that time. I am disabling that task now; if someone could please alert me tomorrow (should I not be awake) if the issue continues to be present that would be most appreciated.
 
Did anyone notice the issue last night? If not, we have our target. If it appeared ... well, I keep diggin'.
 
I wasn't online last night. But, Drew was on around that time and had no problems. So, perhaps it's taken care of.
 
Did not get booted last night..i think you solved the mystery....:yourock:
 
HDS----I got booted out at 4:35 pm and couldn't get back in until I restarted my computer.
 
I AM HAVING PROBLEMS!!!!!!!

It seems to be working now but the symptoms were as described in the previous posts.
 
paracarl44, I think your issue is a different one (as your other thread indicates). Can anyone else confirm what kered saw? I can't find any other things that might have done it.
 
I reenabled the task that was causing this after a full update. All should be well but, if it happens again, please do let me know. I'll try to watch tonight myself.

I got booted at 12:40 AM EST and we have those weird icons in our Visitor Messages now. 😵
 
Oh, I forgot to kill that. Better now?

As to the booting then ... let us give it one more day. If it does this again tomorrow I'll file a ticket with cPanel.

Actually, the only thing I was doing was looking at pics and clips. I suddenly couldn't access anything at all. I looked at the top of the page and noticed that I was logged out and automatically thought that my cookies might be too high (they were set to medium).

I put them all the way down, to no avail. My continuous attempts to log back in didn't work at all.

I left the forum and came back at about eleven. It seems to be working now...Or, for now, anyways.

PS: Sorry. I miss-typed. I got kicked out at 5:56A.M.

I hope this isn't some type of forum hack.

Nah. I don't think it's a forum hack. It'd be happening in a lot weirder ways if that was so.

Sometimes when I clear my cookies and try to re-log in, it's not enough and I either have to restart Internet Explorer or reboot my computer, then it'll work.

It's ghetto, I know, but it works. Next time, if that happens and clearing the cookies doesn't help you log back in, try rebooting your computer. 🙂
 
The forum is now (starting this morning, actually) backed up automatically through a simple script I wrote. Most of it is not terribly intensive but the compression method utilized for one part is, basically shutting the server down for the time it takes to run due to high resource use. It's set to run at 4 AM central time on Saturday mornings; I'm not sure of your time zone but I suspect that is what hit you.
