In my event set, you provide a date and time for a town, and we announce such here, and have folks mail our mailing list at
[email protected]. Those asking are added to that events attendance, and notified of location specifics. Keeps it private, for better security, while making it easily accessible for all who wish to attend.
If your town gets large enough, you can do as larger events do, with an open munch. That's easier, but does require enough people to pay for a room in a restaurant. This works by buying enough food and drink to justify the business giving you access to a private room. Means you have to announce the event maximum, too, as guests should know that arriving earlier is better in that scenario.
