lol
This thing about the friday 13 is just funny. Specially because today almost everyone forgets how it all started and what really means the friday 13. Eventually people will focus on whatever goes bad forgetting whatever goes well...and so those who were unlucky will say it was the curse, the lucky ones will forget about it this year.
But out of curiosity
The true origin of Friday 13 was in the 14century. Friday, 13 was the day chosen by the current pope to exterminate the templar knights order all around Europe. Following papal orders, all christian kings (or most of them) organized massive surprise assaults and arresting on all property belonging to the known military christian order (which have been growing to become too powerful getting tangled with local politics all around Europe). The order was really big and spread across Europe and some of it´s members were from the highest nobility. Therefore that Friday went into history first as the "black friday" and lately it become only known as the curse of Friday 13. There´s a history that the last leader of the order, someone called "Molay" indeed cursed all christians for following the papal orders and thus murdering fellow christians who had fought bravely against the muslims in the past centuries.
Just to add more trivia, Portugal had quite an interesting participation in all this. Looks like the portuguese king tried to more or less fool the pope. The Templar order was indeed exterminated in Portugal but....a new order took it´s place and all it´s bellongings. Curious enough, this new order, called "Order of Christ" was to be one of the main sponsors of the now famous portuguese sea travels. The well known Prince Henrique, the sailor, was indeed the current leader from this order. Oddly enough, they kept the red cross on white field which was the templar knight´s banner...altough they changed the cross a little bit not to be too obvious 🙂
Hope some of you enjoy it and look in a different way to next year´s friday 13
