There once was a restaurant around here that fried the chicken in a cast iron skillet. It took at least 25 minutes to prepare it but they served you a large garden salad while you waited.
The truck stop in my hometown fried their chicken that way then served everything family style. While sitting in one the Naugahyde upholstered booths you could drop a coin or two in the tableside juke box and listen to the latest hits or some old favorites. 😀
