Going Home July 20th.. Hopefully.

Thanks, Angel. She's still coughing a little blood, but again, thankfully, its nothing serious.

We may actually end up going home July 23 instead of July 20. Not sure. They are expecting a massive heat wave next week. Our apartment in Lancaster gets oppressive in summer, even with windows closed, and AC on. We'll have to keep watch on the weather. It will either be July 20 or 23.

Mitch

Hope your homecoming dates stay the same. I wish you and your mom the best and a good, quick recovery for you both.

Thanks, Georgia. I appreciate it, my friend.

Right now, I dont know what day we're going home. Lancaster is much hotter than where I am in NJ. The forecast highs there from Thursday on are low to mid 90s, which means the heat will bake in our apartment. I hope it would be next Monday at the latest, and hopefully sooner.

I wanted to bump this thread.. with some news of great concern.

I'm getting worried.. The Drs said that one thing to watch for, that would be a major concern, is if my mom's appetite left her, and she began losing weight. She hasnt been weighed since a week ago Tuesday, but, I know she's lost weight. She keeps telling everyone she has no appetite, and is exhausted all the time. All she wants to do is sleep.

The nurses and doctors said the end of treatment can be punishing on the body, but.. this may be something more. My mom really needs to see an internist. She has radiation for 3 more days, and chemo on Tuesday morning. After that, we would be free to go. However, as everyone knows, there is a major heat wave, that will be moving to the North East and Mid Atlantic by mid to late week. Its supposed to be 100 degrees in Lancaster from Wednesday to Friday. Our AC in our apartment is awful. Therefore, between my mom's illness, and the heat wave, we may end up having to stay here for several more days, and perhaps up to a week.

Hopefully by Tuesday the doctors can figure out what's wrong with my mom. I also hope to get home soon. As I may have posted before, I've been home a total of two weekends since May 26, and not at all since June 20th. While I know how important my mom's treatment is.. I do look forward to the end of her treatment, so we can go home.

Mitch

I hope the doctors give you both good news, Mitch,
sounds to me like maybe just the chemo would make a person sick enough to lose appetite & weight, but I'm no doctor - So hopefully it's just something temporary, I'd think that's at least equally likely with all I've heard about chemo :ermm:

And Id want to stay where the AC works best as long as possible!!!! :chill:

No place like home, I know, and it's inconvenient, you have to catch up but at least if you're in a cooler environment (and close by the doctors at this time) it might be better --

Hope you have a better update soon, you both really deserve a break!! :twohugs:

Thanks for your kind words and support, Babbles.

Right now, I'm not sure if my mom is going to have to be hospitalized. I asked her tonight if she wanted me to call a cab, or ambulance, to take her to the hospital, and she said no. We're going to the doctor's office tomorrow for radiation, so we will talk to his nurses then, and ask them.

Shit, goddamn. You and your mom have definitely been through the proverbial mill.

I wish the both of you a wholly uneventful week following your mom's release (uneventful that is except for your respective conditions improving).

Oh yes, July 20th is the 42nd anniversary of Apollo 11. Hmm, 42, the meaning of life, the universe and everything...

Mitchell, take it one day at a time. I'm sure your mother is just feeling the effects of all the treatments. Its a lot to deal with but she is a strong women who is making great progress. Keep your head up and I'm sure everything will turn out for the best

Thanks for your good wishes, kopfhorer. My mom isnt in the hospital yet, but she's feeling really sick. She's supposed to see the Dr today, and it wouldnt surprise me in the least if they hospitalized her.

Thanks for the support, Angel. I'm trying to keep my head up. As you can imagine, after not being home for over a month, I'm chomping at the bit to get there. (MLB extra innings package. Regular access to TMF instead of the few minutes here and there on the hotel computer, On Demand movies).

Until she got sick recently, the Drs and nurses said my mom was doing very well with her treatment. She might well have a virus, or it might be a combination of a virus and the end of treatment. Hopefully, by sometime today we will have a better idea.

Mitch
