Gore lovers apply here! (No, not Al Gore...)

wouldn't make much sense, so i won't bother to try. I'm a pretty random person, and I'm a pretty morbid person...i hope that doesn't hurt my standings with everyone 😛

Believe me, you're not the only sick-minded amongst this community, still I ain't one of them. As for the standing with me, it doesn't afflict it there one bit, rather drew attention than scared me away. LoL.

Curiousness is then again a property of mine.

Regards.

Ah, gore. The realm of bloody and often stomach-turning things that seems to frighten most folks away. I too enjoy a good bloodbath every now-and-then, although I think that could be because I am partially insane. *Pictures the skinned-bodies-in-a-tree scene from Predator* MMMMmmmmm.......skinless corpses......

If by "gore" you mean "shedding of blood", "clotted blood", "penetrating wounds" and, well, anything skin-piercing related, then hanging doesn't qualify. 😉

Personally I don't consider killing "cool". I might say I consider the whole thread offensive - but hey, let's cut some slack. It is for ... fun.

I don't like violence. I'm reasonably good at it, that's why I don't like it. 😉
And, if you are asking me to suggest you a thrilling way to die... well, swordfight is my answer.

Reg's.

Hey She-Devil, for your drink with the mountain dew code red in it, since the soda brings you up and the alcohol brings u back down, call it a Ruby Speedball. 🙂

And always remember there's nothing wrong with being a little morbid and sick...If we didn't have folks like that we wouldn't have gotten Edgar Allan Poe...or you or me for that matter. 🙂

Here's a website you might enjoy.. www.morbidoutlook.com If you wanna read some good creepy stuff, click on the fiction button and look up the author Jerry Mouse (shameless plug cuz that's me)

Kalamos: That's cool I guess...but gore is my thing. I grew up around it, at first it used to sicken me, but I'm actually desensitized to it. Why would you be offended by it? It's nothing new...trust me, whatever has happened to you that shies you away from such things probably isn't the worst. If it's not your thing and you don't like the thread..hey, you don't have to respond to it. I hope that doesn't sound mean. If I don't want to watch that terrible garbage people call "reality television" I can change the channel. Just keep that in mind because I'm not trying to cause any trouble here...not like I'm some hate-mongering idiot. I'm actually pretty nice, I just get violent when provoked  :sharp_tee lol I'd look so lame makin faces like that....

Ghost Host 999: It also has Robitussin in it. Lol.

I *might* find offensive that you find "cool" killing someone.
If you have been exposed to death and violence to the point of being de-sensitized I can only feel sorry for you [no, not really. I don't even know if you are joking... that was just for the public].
It is weird you now consider violence funny, but traumas work in strange ways...

Personally I don't find killing that cool or exciting. In Europe we get to see our share of gore and death [Iraq anybody?] - so we have little use for faking or fantasies. 😉

That's why I find *mildly* offensive that you consider fun speaking of executions. But, if it floats your boat, I don't care too much: fake violence has a cathartic value too.

Maybe it is just me: I can draw my own [or other's] fantasies - and I don't need to write extensively about them. 😉
I just grab a pencil, a mouse, a pen, whatever, and start drawing.

Question is now about semantics: is hanging properly labelled as "gore"?

Reg's.

First, let me explain a little something about myself. I need to consist of balance, and without balance, there's just chaos within me. I need to mix light equally with dark. I'm a nice person, I don't go around causing trouble, anymore..lol. So I suppose this subject is how I balance it out. It's just an indulgence of mine. It's just hard to explain. I've seen terrible things in my life, that I won't talk about, but ever since, I've had this unexplainable fascination with death. Well not So unexplainable anymore. Through the years I've learned things about myself, and it. Ever since I was a young kid I've had an inquisitive mind. I've seen life get crushed and taken away within a few seconds. It's terrible to just see something that could permanently change the lives of others within a few seconds, but I felt this need to learn why this happens. Then I found out about serial killers. I'd have heard about guys like Jeffrey Dahmer and John Wayne Gacey as a youngster, but never gave them too much thought. But then after I'd have seen things....I got curious and read about them. I couldn't understand what drove them to murder, and I just couldn't stand the fact that there were things in the world that I could not understand. It goes way beyond psychology, they're not just "organized sociopaths" or some bull like that, they CAN'T be. That's a self-contradicting term. Sociopaths aren't organized at all. So why are they like this? Are they evil, are they seeing something we don't? I know it has something to do with their childhood - Richard Ramirez watched his uncle (I think) shoot somebody right in front of him. I think that's one of the reasons he did the things he did, I'm not 100% sure, it's been a long time since I've read about him. But if that's so, why isn't everyone who's witnessed death a serial killer now? Because it's not just childhood experience, there has to be something deeper. I know, I sound pretty insane right now, so I'm gonna anchor myself back to earth by saying I've gotten over most of that through the past couple of years. I didn't expect this topic to get this deep, so I apologize....this was supposed to be for something COMPLETELY unrelated....lol. Infact, it was gonna be something totally stupid...I'm not even gonna get into it.

Mmm. Ok.

So, back to topic, I'd say impaling is the most shocking form of execution.
It is messy, slow, painful, humiliating and there's no way to speed it up. It makes an example, a terrible one, and while you are dying, you are probably wide awake and cursing every second of your remaining life.

On the opposite, until beheading by guilloutine, hanging used to be a "mercyful" way of executing criminals: people and relatives could pay the executioner to speed up death, by making the noose tighter, or by letting them pull the convict/condemned by the feet - so his neck snapped quickly instead of dying from slow choking.

The "safest" way of executing someone was beheading by axe or sword - but only by a skilled executioner.
It was one of the most specialized form of execution. A professional beheader could sell his services dearly, while blundering amateurs made beheading a messy torture...

A terrible way of dying is by concussion: crushed under a boulder, or whipped/caned to death. Slow, and unless you lose consciousness early on, quite painful. It was probably reserved to heretics, traitors and - as it seems - women accused of witchcraft.

If you have access to a good library I'd suggest "Dei delitti e delle pene" - "On crime and punishment", by Cesare Beccaria.

Reg's.

Let me re-phrase that then: if you have access to a good e-library...

Besides, isn't ripping illegal? 😉
You are making Mr Gates cry.

You bet your ass it's illegal! That's what's so beautiful about it. I can still be an effective thief without stepping out the door!

.....maybe the cash I'm not spending is what is keeping Mr. Gates from getting a decent haircut 😉

You might have a point there.

But... the fact your IP is printed all over your ISP's logs and authorities can track down suspect downloads shouldn't deter you one bit. 😉

Don't they really have anything more interesting to do 🙄

The authorities would first need permission from my ISP. Actually, the only way the authorities would know legally is if the ISP alerted them, which if they would do such a thing, I'd have been canned months ago. Far too many people download in bulk for my ISP to care. Besides, I haven't downloaded in bulk in months, AND they don't know what you download, just the filesize. Ebooks are usually in the kilobyte range, so for all they know, I could be downloading pictures/movie trailers/etc. The way to d/l and stand out the most is if you're downloading massively overnight. Maybe if you do that for 4-5 months every night in a row, they may grow suspicious. lol

Fine with me. 😉
I'd have to explain them why I post and download weird drawings with ticklish ladies - so I suppose it great if they don't care. 😉

Oh... and in Europe laws on privacy work in a different way: I've seen sites closed down with no prior advice for minor rule-breaching. 😉

Talk about privacy. 😉

Hey, what about the original topic? Don't you really care for the infos I generously typed in just for you? 😉

well....think of that as a 'closed discussion'...I've already decided what to go with. all I need now is to do some coding in my signature, and you all get to see something "real pretty" 😉
And anyhow, here in the US, they don't come in and kick down your doors for massive sharing/downloading, they just slap you with a lawsuit...if they can catch you. So far, it seems as if nobody's been busted for sharing movies/games/etc, just music. Why? because Kazaa servers are RIAA-bugged. my mother's boss got sued for a hefty 20-30 grand (somewhere around there..!) some time ago because he downloaded music on his computer. However, I've been nabbing movies before they even come out in theaters/dvd for some time now, and nothing's happened. There's a simple way to download things without having the feds crawl up your ass: IRC. I know people on IRC who get alot of things early, specifically music/movies. I can get any CD I want before it hits store shelves, any movie before it hits theaters, or I can get the DVD version before it comes out on DVD..... I can't get "bugged" by the authorities because that would mean somebody's hacking my computer, which would be illegal, so it seems as if I have every base covered...

Lets go off topic again: What do you think of my silly avatar? Does it look good in green, or should I go with blue like I originally thought?

That's what I "love" about States: you can commit a crime [let me rephrase that: something they define as a crime 😉 ] because it would be a crime to get evidences to stop you from committing it in the first place. 😉

Just hope they don't change the laws.
Mmm... can you hear them knocking? 😀

EDIT:

Definitely blue. That shade of green doesn't really suit your nickname.
Go for something deep red maybe.

Only Dante envisioned Hell as a freezing place - in common minds anything devil-related is red-tinged.

They actually tried to counter-cope with the downloading problem by using scare tactics and offering cheaper downloads. Remember Napster? It was probably the first mainstream music-downloading program ever, and then within a year or so it was shut down. Well it's back, except, IT'S NOT FREE! They charge you 99 cents a song. That famous franchised "restaurant" Burger King has a music download offer to AOL users. Everytime you buy a whopper, you save the wrapper, and that wrapper is worth a free song online. You double the whopper, you get another free song. As for the scare tactics side, they relied mostly on heresay, like the RIAA trying to sue a bunch of people. Those people in turn told everyone they know, and they told everyone they knew, all the while the weaker-minded people became scared out of their mind to download. Needless to say, this ploy has FAILED. 😀

It's funny you mention that, I downloaded The Divine Comedy as an e-book and I plan to read it soon. 0=)

I am informed about death and killing. That's why I don't find it "cool" or exciting.
