Greatest gigs you've been to.

Fishbone is great. Too bad I have never seen them live...

I saw them in October 2001 in Ithaca, NY shortly after 9-11. I remember the crowd being unusually uptight. The lead singer got off stage, mic in hand and said "Look, I know everyone's scared, but this is a Fishbone concert!"

Saw Fred Frith along with some other cool people at Barton Hall at Cornell. Saw Blues Control in a cafe in Ithaca, NY.

Oh yes, Grateful Dead, 1977, Broome County Arena, Frank Zappa, Syracuse U. 1981, Talking Heads, Harpur College, 1978

Of A Revolution a.k.a OAR: House of Blues, New Orleans

One of the most energetic shows I had seen in a while!!!!! Like a crazy game of poker! 🙂

Soul Position (Blueprint + RJD2...although RJD2 could not make it) at the Lime Spider in 2003. Small venue, lots of love in the crowd.

Sigur Rós - Glasgow Carling Academy 2005
Muse - Nottingham Ice Rink 2003
Radiohead - Nottingham Ice Rink 2003 (the day after the muse gig)
Cassetteboy/Squarepusher - Stealth, Nottingham, 2005

1. Iron Maiden during their flight 666 tour (I had 5th row seats and watched the entire concert dressed as Eddie, which got me noticed by the band and had a few guitar picks and metal horns thrown in my direction)

It's funny I was just thinking about some epic shows of the past as I was navigating my youtube playlist recently. I was reminded of this incredible local show which featured the now defunct legendary Troy band called Dying Breed. They were preceded by the original line up of Connecticuts 100 Demons and also featured Unearth before they became popular. The atmosphere was super positive and made for a really, really fun show.

Another memorable event was the Aggressive Music Festival which featured Hatebreed, Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Trivium, As I Lay Dying, In Flames, God Forbid. This was years ago now and before the quote, unquote metal-core style of music became played out, copied and done to death. The highlight of the show was either the epicness of In Flames or Howard from KSE. That f'n guy had a truly powerful, resonating voice that shook the damn arena.

It's been YEARS since I've been to any kind of musical event. Hopefully in times to come I can add another show or two to this thread. Before I'm dead I'd like to see Heaven Shall Burn if they ever do another U.S. tour. Machine Head, Alice in Chains, Aaron Lewis' acoustic stuff, Corey Taylors acoustic stuff. Killswitch now that Jesse is back on vocals, Down perhaps. Firesoul with Mikkel and Kral from Mercenary if they ever get that project going and decide to tour over here. Man,those would all be amazing to see.

Well, since this thread is still going: Heart, Fleetwood Mac and Peter Frampton at old Municipal Stadium in Kansas City. The stadium was demolished many years ago.

I always love going to shows, mainly because I like to mosh and have a great time. If I had to name a few that were my "best" it would probably be; AC/DC in Philly....Mayhem Festival 2010 and John Fogerty at the Tower Theater.

Mainly Country & Western for me.

I've been to The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville twice.
I used to travel to Wheeling, West Virginia to see performers at The Wheeling Jamboree in the springtime.
Just saw Charlie Pride a couple of months ago.
Saw The Alabama Farewell Concert in Hershey several years ago.
I also enjoyed The Statler Brothers Farewell Concert in upstate Pennsylvania more than a decade ago.

Country: The Judds, Kenny Chesney/Tim McGraw, Sugarland/Brooks and Dunn at Riverbend (nope, don't remember when....); Sara Evans/Carolyn Dawn Johnson/Kenny Chesney, Dolly Parton/Kenny Rogers - both solo and together - Riverfront Coliseum. Carrie Underwood at Music Hall.

Pop: Billy Joel, Elton John/Billy Joel, Sheila E/Lionel Ritchie at Riverfront Coliseum; The Outfield/Starship, Survivor - Timberwolf at King's Island; Loverboy/Pat Benetar/Journey at Riverbend (September, 2012 - even without Steve Perry, it rocked); Chicago at Music Hall.

Miscellaneous: Ray Charles and Andy Williams at Riverfront Coliseum; Julie Andrews at Riverbend; Bill Cosby at Aronoff; Robin Williams at Taft Theater.

Kiss. I'm not getting personal, but my father used to be their business manager from 1973 to 1980, and I saw them at Madison Square Garden, when I was about.. 6.

I dont know if these others are considered bands,. but, great musical acts anyway.

Simon and Garfunkel, twice.

Billy Joel.

Beach Boys.

Kenny Rogers.

A joint show with Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, and Liza Minneli.

Neil Diamond.

Those are just some that come to mind.

Oh... forgot two in Indianapolis. Lady Blacksmith Mambazo and Peter, Paul, and Mary.

Bon Jovi in 2011 (he sung Hallelujah in the pouring rain. Fucking epic life moment)
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band 2013 (saw him with my Mum for her birthday. The man is unstoppable! Such a performer)

Both were AMAZING! Cant wait for Bon Jovi to return down under later this year.

Since this thread was bumped, Heart, Fleetwood Mac and Peter Frampton in 1975, at the long ago demolished Municipal Stadium in Kansas City Missouri. Oops, already posted that one. 😱 ZZ Top and The Rolling Stones in the Houston Astrodome, 1981.

Arlo Guthrie at Memorial Hall in Kansas City Kansas, 1974. The Electric Light Orchestra in Kemper Arena (1977) also in Kansas City Missouri.

Sun Ra, Todd Rundgren, Gentle Giant, Grateful Dead (twice), Frank Zappa, The Kinks, Papa John Creach, Jonathan Richman...hmm, I'll think of some others.

I've seen Kenny Rogers twice at Hershey. In Branson, Missouri I saw Ray Stevens at his theater. In the Smoky Mountains I saw Lee Greenwood at his theater. I have seen Alabama at their theater in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina a couple of times. Numerous Elvis impersonators over the years.
