the hollywood brother just read a interesting book on hazing from sororities and fraternities. what the hollywood brother is wondering is two things. one is anyone here part or was part of a soroity or faternity and two what did you have to do for hazing? This is a interesting topic because the hollywood brother thinks that hazing gets a real bad rap and maybe it not that bad.

WELL...

Hazing is the process of 'breaking someone in' to your social group. People tend to do if they think they're elitist; earn your place amongst us yaddy yaddy yada. Also known as your 'initiation'. Usually involves physical acts, sometimes quite painful/turturous (tickling!), but the main purpose is the humiliation.

I was in a sorority in college...and fortunately for me, I was never hazed...but I do know, for a fact, from friends in other houses on campus that there was some serious hazing going on...and I know it happened in the fraternities...

As long as no one is getting hurt, I don't mind a little light hazing...I think it can help put some respect/fear of the Lord into the hearts of new members...and sometimes I think new members of the group need to know who is in charge and that there is a certain respect level to be maintained for people who have been there longer than they have...but that doesn't mean beating someone or forcing them to do something they really have an issue with...I dunno...wasn't how we did it...now if we had some sort of tickling hazing, THAT would be just fine by me...😉

Back in the past (60's and later), you did have some occasional deaths occur due to accidents. Nowadays, enough parent chapters have been sued enough to cause them to tone things down.
