Cheers to CrystalLight for her awesome thread on adding a subforum to allow new members to introduce themselves. And Cheers to the moderators for listening to all the opinions expressed on the topic and deciding to add the Hello Forum. I think this is an excellent addition to the forum and will encourage many of our lurker members to introduce themselves and become more active members of this community if they so choose.

It is a welcome addition to the TMF. 😀
It will also keep those introduction threads out of TD and GD.

*cheers* Yaaay! ^_^

Thanks for the new cool forum, Mod Squad! =D And thanks for the good discussion in that topic, everyone who participated...and also for addessing the topic in the radio show, 'Ray and 'Raya! 😀 I've already experessed my opinions about it, but, I think it's a very good thing to have! May the TMF have many more bright years ahead of it, and its potential members feel welcomed and right at home! ^_^

Now, the next proposal is...to create a subforum dedicated to the awesomeness of Dalekfire! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! :firedevil

Teehee! 😀

Thank you Myriads,Jeff and the mods for giving such a place a chance to work....

The Hello Forum..I like the ambiance.. say hello and introduce yourself and interact with other members a bit....

Nice feeling about it already...

Make sure to read the rules section and stick to them folks.....😀

Ya, it's really working out great, with a bunch of veterans piling on top of each other and turning it into Silly Stuff Lite... That really looks like a welcoming place for a newbie to try to be heard. Clearly much better than letting them operate in the normal posting areas. 🙄

Yes, it feels much better to see someone else get spanked for a change...:xpulcy:

Yeah. Totally agree. I mean... Like, seriously.. Why would Vet's want to attempt to break the ice in showing the new user's to be comfortable the only way they know how? By posting. Psshhh.. Shame on us.

Rules for the Hello Forum can be altered/re-written/re-based/etc.

For example;

Please..Make yourself feel welcome.. NO VET'S ARE ALLOWED TO POST THREADS !

This is a friendly community, seriously !

On a more non-sarcastic note:

What about the Vet's or frequent poster's who really want to take a thread to introduce themselves on a more official level?

And, if there is an apprehension as to the amount of 'talking back and forth' going on, then could/can the rule's for that sub-forum be written as well to include that IF GR's should pop up, the post will be immedietly deleted, to save the moderator's time and energy sifting through that specific thread?

thats what i was thinking...pretty much, in other news, nice new sig pic young lady 😉

I agree. I would recommend adding in a line in the rules making it clear that vets are not to post threads but are welcome and encouraged to reply to threads. The forum does have value Jeff. Rome wasn't built in a day.

i dont reckon thats nessasary personaly, i mean its abit of fun and also gives people a chance to say hello to peopel who are already here as well as new users, im one of many who posted an intro at some point got 3 replies and then watched my thread drown so in effect very few peopel saw it, now theres a more suitable place 🙂 i think the few of us that have posted a hello thread have just made it look populated rather than empty, you gotta put some life into something to mkae it live to start with,

yeah we`ve been abit silly with it but for me at least thats just the way i am with most things, and its a nice new shiney forum and now its fun too and im hoping the new users will see that and join in, and last time i checked it looked like a few had 😀 so yay!! i think we could easily get to fussy about what goes on there, over time once its built up im sure the initial sillyness will fade

I agree with you, Hari. Don't worry, people...we won't take over the entire forum, or anything. 😉

Same with me...watched my topic sink into the slushpile. x)

I think we can post there within reason but save the silly stuff and sillier responses for the general forum..

Keep it a simple intro and a bit about yourself and those that are interested can reply and everyone gets to know everyone....

So from a moderator standpoint...

...How is this going to work? Are people going to at least have the option to say hello in Tickling and/or General? You know, the forums where they will be seen by the most people? Or will such posts now be considered out of place and shoved to the Hello Forum?

People can say hello in TKDis or GenDis if they like. The hello forum is simply a place where people can say hi, without worry as to if it's 'ok', and where some folks might see them faster.

Hellos are not mandiated to be in it.

Myriads

LOL If posts were going to be "shoved" anywhere, then the ones already posted would have been moved....as it says on the front...

"This forum is a place for new members to introduce themselves to us. Come in and say hello!"

Sounds innocent enough to me...not YOU WILL POST HERE FIRST OR ELSE...

Really no need to discuss it further Bro.....

I am sure a pm to the mods can answer your questions if you feel the need...but what is is and like silly stuff and sports which I found NO use for, ya get used to them and life goes on.....

Really.... Its not that big a deal.....:hipoke:

Like, Great Idea, Scoob!

Yeah. Totally agree. I mean... Like, seriously.. Why would Vet's want to attempt to break the ice in showing the new user's to be comfortable the only way they know how?

Yeah ... Like, Totally. *giggle*

I mean really... No... 'come on guys ... Seriously.

I think this idea *WROCKS* my world !!!

Kudos to C-Lite!!!!! :bowing:

You're breaking some real ground here!!!!!!:Kiss2:

I suggest a stern warning with the threat of eternal banishment if they ever post out of place again. This will drive home the point that we will not, under any circumstances, tolerate irresponsible posting on the TMF.

But that’s just my humble opinion … 🙄

Well evidently it was big enough so that somebody with some serious clout got it approved against the better judgement of the top brass. But since the thread was already here, with Jeff participating in it, I thought I would pose the question. I know the decision has already been made. I'm just asking this question out of genuine curiosity, and an uneasy suspicion that nobody has really thought this thing out that far.

As for posts getting shoved to other forums, I think we all know that it does happen. For the most part it's a good thing to move posts to the appropriate designated areas. But on the other hand I do remember a song parody of mine was shoved from General to the Silly Forum which to me seemed inappropriate. Such is nature of judgement calls.

But it seems to me that the main purpose of this Hello Forum is to make newcomers feel more warm and fuzzy. I would think that shoving a hello post from Tickling or General to the new forum probably isn't the best way to accomplish that, so that's why I asked if that will be the policy.

Understood and it was a legitimate question....but no one ever said the place was going to be a mandatory first post area....just a place for people old and new to interact a bit if they so desire..

Today it is getting more views than sports and humor combined and there have been some good introductory posts there.....

Give it a chance Bro..and dont think we wont say hello to those who are comfortable with putting their opening post in a different area.....we will still join in as usual.....

This area just makes it more comfortable for others who dont really no where to start...

You know what?

I created the hello forum because I felt that it was a good idea that would make new folks feel welcome, and in general promote the building of the community as a whole. That's what I always try to do here on the TMF. Find ways to make people feel more included. To make users feel welcome.

I get on today and what do I see? Strife and snideness. I got a lot of opinions in PM's. It's pretty clear that the Hello forum is not going to do what I wanted it to. It's only adding to the 'clique' debate, and dividing people more.

So I killed it. Chalk it up to me making a bad call. I apologise to the people who posted there, and took the time to reply to any posts made there. But I'm putting it away as an idea that did not work.

Hellos can return to Tickling and General Discussion.

End of story.

Myriads

Sorry it had to go that way...many were enjoying it.....

Oh well....so it goes...

that sucks, what happened? ive been off the forum for abit, this stupid clique thingys started to annoy me,

no matter what i or anyone else says nothign will change, you people that just HAVE to get pissed off cause you arnt automatically loved by all straight away and then start demanding that theres a clique as an excuse to make yourselves feel better about why your not center of attention need to just grow up, its like any social setting, if you want to be part of something you have to get involved, everyones imput is welcomed unless its out of order, the nest thing gets me the most, im kinda chummy with a few of the regular nest goers and i havent been to it, pehaps i never will, and im not the only one, its so easy to dismiss you lack of popularity as not being part of a clique

meh i dunno, maybe im out of line here and maybe ive got the wrong end of the stick to, sorry if i have, but thsi is what it LOOKs like

Huh???

Hmmm... OK... well... If the new "Hello" discussion had to go down, so be it... From a noob's perspective, I will say that it was a good idea and I was having fun with it for all of the 24 hours it was actually there... Others may have found it an easier place for introductions...

If Myriads feels he got too many complaints or objections to justify keeping it, that's fine... I completely respect his decision. Props to you Myriads (and others) for trying!

However, for those who made such an effort to have their objections heard over an issue that does not concern nor affect them, I have a question...

Are you really that full of yourselves?

Mmm. Well I won't like formulate an objection to the recent course of actions, but I will say that I'm quite saddened that a new idea such as the welcome forum went down so fast. I mean, all new changes will be met with dissatisfaction...like the recent forum updates, and many of us had no say in that one, much less knew about it until it finally happened. The welcome forum idea was something many of us supported. I just hoped that we all would've given it more time to see what became of it before watching it go before making any good judgements about it. *shrug*

Like I said, I'm not arguing the fact. What's done is done. I'm just stating my opinion on it. This IS a forum, after all, isn't it? 😉
