Help I Cant Seem To Access Anything Excpet TMF

Something really weird is going on I cant seem to get into Chat Room, or send out email, or log onto yahoo, or access any web page except for this one. This is really bizarre.

What do you use for internet explorer? Normally I use Yahoo.......... However,last week I tried to use it I'd click it on,it would come up,then go away A friend of mine sent me a Mozilla/Firefox download,and all is fine

I might be able to send it to you if you PM me your e-mail addy Can you read any e-mail at all?

I can receive email but I can not send it. This is really weird. 🙁

Sounds like a firewall or ISP problem. Have you done the 'ol restart?

Addendum: If you have a cable modem or dsl modem or router (wireless or otherwise), you may want to try unplugging each, letting them sit for thirty seconds, and then replugging them in.

We can also test your connection with ping. Give me an address that you can't access, like http://www.yahoo.com

I know when I was having problems with my IE,I could only access Im chat for AOL and others A friend sent me the Mozilla/Firefox browser Like I said,PM me your e-mail addy and I'll see if I can send you the download You on dialup internet? How big is your email inbox?

Right now I can not access www.yahoo.com . If I restart I am afraid I might not even be able to get back on here. I checked firewall settings they seem normal.

Kurchman, try a ping. Go to the start menu, click "Run," and type in "cmd" The command prompt will open. Type in "ping http://www.yahoo.com" without quotes. Tell me what it says.

What happens when you hit internet explorer? It come up and then go away? I still can't figure out why mine did that

I typed "ping http://www.yahoo.com" and a window opened up, stayed opened for a bit then closed with any message. 🙁

Did you type cmd into the run window first? You need to type the ping thing into the window that pops up when you type cmd. If you type it in run, the window does indeed flash and vanish.

Not good. Not good at all. Something is wrong, as this means your computer cannot access yahoo even with a very old and very basic ping command. Kurchman, as dangerous as it seems, you need to restart your computer and do the thing I said to do to your cable and/or DSL modem and possibly your router. HDS has had things like this happen to him before: Restarting the modem, router, and computer always fixed it.

IMPORTANT ADDITION I FORGOT: If you do turn off and then back on your modem and/or router, make sure you do that BEFORE you turn your computer back on. In other words, turn your computer off and then do the thing I said to do earlier with the modem and such.

Sounds like your DNS is hosed. I would open a DOS window (command prompt) and enter these commands, one at a time

ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns

Ok now this is really bizarre. Everything is working again and I did not restart the computer. BIZARRO.

Drew's probably right, now that I think about it. However, power-cycling your modem should do what he advised just as well. I think.


EDIT: Ah, nevermind then. Maybe something freaky at the ISP level. 😛

Well for the internet I use a used laptop I bought off ebay that is now a year and a half old. 😀
