Hey Guys!

Hey...what can we say? We certainly don't wander astray! We love the Menthol Imp all night and every day! Especially in the month of May! While we're putting food on our tray! Because we're awesome that way!

:cool

We all love you and know you're strong. 🙂 You will get through this...or we'll somehow get you anyway if you don't. But we know you will so it's a useless threat!...

That and I didn't think "Laughter is the best meds" during a actual serious situation like this was appropriate...But still!..(hugs Karen) Please be okay and come back to me and yahoo and alllll your friends. 🙂

Sorry to hear you've been having a tough time. Here's hoping things look up for you *hugs*
Many congrats on the As!! Woot Woot to you.
Take care.x

Thanks for the woots, Hel! I appreciate all you guys' response--so here's a quick update.

Nothing major--just that the ear/nose/throat appointment I had today got cancled due to 10 inches of snow and more coming -_- Mild headache and a few falls by misplacing my hands due to vertigo (nothing serious, just fell into the coffee table leaning to get a drink that wound up in knocking myself into a lamp-- causing damage to my pride and nothing else--twice), but other than that I've been fine--not bedridden with headache or anything. No word from the lab on my CSF, which is a GOOD thing---it means nothing's been found.

I have an eye doctor apt on Wednesday, so maybe this'll all wind up to be that, let's hope. I love u guys!

~K

We love you too Karen! But come on, pride? You should have a lot of that considering how great you are.<3 I'm happy to hear everything so far is on the okay aside from your falling. But if you weren't a little clumsy you wouldn't be as funny and cute as you are so.. :stickout

Just make sure to be safe!

Wow... this is all quite an update. I hope that it all works out for you.

Best of luck with these latest results.

The number of missed/missing ticklers who've come out of the woodwork to well-wish you speaks volumes to your unmatched level of sheer awesomeness, Karen.

Hydrocephalic #3 checking in... that's quite the statistical correlation.

I spoke to you earlier today about this... I'm glad I made you feel better. I knew when I read your first post that a full-blown revision would probably be necessary. Remember... it's a valve. It's mechanical, and it's forced to work 24 hours a day for years on end. It was bound to happen, and it looks like it just needs a little swapout.

As I told you earlier, my own shunt is going into its 22nd year. *knocks wood again* We're both very lucky, and I just wanted to say again that you shouldn't be worried.

Hey guys, it's again time for updatedness.

Got an appt with the ear guy today and long story short my ears are healthy as horses 😛 In the doctors words "you have the best hearing I've seen in months, and there's no reason to think your problems are inner or outer-ear related".

-.- Fuck.

Oh well, doctors appt number...uh...whatever tomorrow, my eye doctor. Last chance before surgery, so pray, meditate, and keep your fingers crossed for me! Thank you!

so pray, meditate, and keep your fingers crossed for me!

I am meeting with the Dali Lama to request a prayer of wellness on your behalf even as I type...well...not really...but I can pray Really REALLY HARD and hope for the best yes? ^_~

(snug) (hugs) (GLOMPS)

Hey guys. I don't have much energy for much of a reply, I'm kind of in shock--the worst has come, the culture came back positive, so I'm going in on Friday for the double surgery-one to take the shunt out, 2 weeks of hospital for decontamination, and one surgery to put the shunt back in. I love you guys, and everyone being through all this with me has meant more to me than I could ever express. Hopefully I'll be able to get online during my stay, but if not maybe Senshi can update you.

Love you all, talk to you soon

~K

Holy crap... you just pointed me here in an offline message on MSN... wow. I guess it's not a huge deal, but I didn't expect it to be an infection.

I know you said that was the scariest possibility, and of all possibilities you listed it is--but you know what? In the scheme of things, it's not horrible. Bacterial infections happen all the time... but you take your meds and it goes away.

When you're in the hospital, listen to what they tell you... take the pills they give you... and if you ever get scared ask them to get you online. We'll be here and we'll set you right.

Good luck....will be thinking of you. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery x

Thanks guys, and sorry for the kind of hasty update earlier. It's a very low-risk procedure, the anesthesia's the most dangerous part and that's no more dangerous than having an ingrown toenail removed under anesthesia 😛. I just worry a lot--anyone in my situation would, I guess--but it'll all be okay. I get 2 weeks of ice cream and attention, then a whole 7 months out of school XD I'm feeling better, and I'll try to keep you guys updated. Luvs!

And we shall wuv you and hug you and squeeze you and snug you and...^+~

Hey everyone
Just had an update for you....
Karen did have an infection in her shunt so they carried out surgery today (USA time I think 14/01/2011) to take her shunt out and externalise it. She has recovered but is going to be sitting tight in hospital for a couple weeks until they get the greenlight to put it back in.

So that is good news.
If I hear any more I will update you
