Okay people, this is a bloody atrocity:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090828/ap_on_re_us/us_kidnapped_girl_found

This guy has been in prison twice and both times he was paroled! Now he's just been arrested for kidnapping a 11 year old girl and keeping her as a sex slave for almost a decade!

This guy is the prime example why I want the death penalty reinstated! He is scum, an animal, and deserves a bullet in the brain (and then the family of the kidnapped girl should get the shell casing)!

I want his fucking penis and testicles cut off! Not surgically removed people. CUT OFF! WHILE HE'S STILL CONSCIOUS! THIS TYPE OF SHIT GIVES ALL OF US BESM PEOPLE A BAD NAME AND FRANKLY IT GIVES THE HUMAN RACE A BAD NAME AS WELL! ANIMALS DON'T EVEN DO THIS TO THEIR YOUNG!

😛issed

Might I make a suggestion: stop reading these kinds of articles. Do they do anything besides fuel your rage? Anger of that magnitude is not a boon. I've seen you get this way over sex offenders several times, and while I do not blame you at all, because they ARE scum, I'm still a bit concerned for you.

Put it this way: they do not deserve such powerful thoughts and feelings. They'll get what's coming to them, you let the prison system (and possibly even the inmates, I hear they don't like child abusers in prison) take care of them. 😉

Someone please hand me a "gastric distress" bag. I'm definitely going to blow chow over this.

Last year there was this story of a man in Austria who committed an even more odious crime of this nature.

Must be some kind of virus going around...😛issed

I thought the death penalty was reinstated in California. Not that I necessarily think it's a good thing.

Makes me wonder where the authorities were when all this shit was happening. If he was on parole, shouldn't he have been supervised? Parole, in law-enforcement parlance, is prison without the bars. And why didn't the neighbors smell a rat? Slightly off-topic: In his old TV program, filmmaker Michael Moore rented a suburban home and did things which convicted serial killers did (dug up his front lawn with a backhoe, had actors pantomine weird things behind window-shaded windows, that kind of thing) to see what the neighbors would do. None of them did anything.

I want his fucking ...testicles cut off!

Why are you assuming that a schmuck who victimizes preadolescent kids has even got any?

And yes, PurpleStyle, one has to wonder whether the news media run stories like this to inform us and spur us on to take positive action, or merely to tittilate us in order to boost ratings/sales and/or garner votes for slightly unsavory politicians and their slightly unsavory programs?

Maybe they knew who it was and thought he was giving conservatives what they deserved..? :lol

Yeah, that's all this. Over-sensationalized information. The news used to be important; long before I was born... :lol . I have an open question to the board: How many of us live in Placerville, CA? Do articles like these have relevance to people outside the California area? Certainly not. It's like a desperate reach for sympathy/anger/some kind of extreme emotion. Well, guess what Yahoo? Mission accomplished. Their website got a few more clicks. I'm sure that somehow lines somebody's pockets who is otherwise an extremely worthless human being.

You don't have to read about it..it's on the cable news as well...and you should hear this guy talking now..he said sure he was disgusting at first..then a few years later, he had a complete turn around..well hello there...if he had such an enlightenment, why didn't he let her go then?? no he had children with her..god..

this guy will get what's coming to him in the afterlife believe in jesus and also insult the guy and pretend he is beneath you or that this is the nature of the beast so that feelings of anger will subside have a nice day

I never know WTF you are talking about, and yet it always seems to make sense.

Purple, if you knew some back history, you'd understand Rox's reaction.

I understand the reaction, don't get me wrong. What I don't understand is the constant seeking of things out just to make ones' self angry. It's unhealthy to purposefully get that riled up. This is behavior that isn't new, it's a continual thing. Would you consider it healthy to become that violent almost every day of your life? All I've done is express my concern; to deaf ears no less.

In a nutshell, she's saying that Jesus will kick his ass and there's no need for jails here on this mortal coil. Oh, yeah, and that punctuation is bad.

I think. 😉

Well I don't know about you but I don't have to pretend a kidnapper, rapist, child molester and suspected serial killer is beneath me. Some things I just know.

Call me wrong, but I must be blunt....These type of people do not deserve to live, and their deaths will make our ongoing existence seem less obtuse. Screw our constitution and systems of justice... That is not justice, what that poor girl went through. Justice would be his blood running off into the nearest sewer while he tries to repent for his sins during his final breath of life. Sorry for being graphic, I'm just angry is all. Our system has failed for years, and the goddamn politicians wonder why we the people, sick and tired of being caged, take matters unto our own, not for the sake of being hero's, but to keep the ideals of justice that has been lost in the mist of empty courtrooms...

...I have spoken.

The system didn't fail. WTF, didn't they convict him and his wife? How did the system fail? The guy is never gonna get out of jail... the bloodlust of people here is unnerving.

Perhaps this spin will make it better: the guy is going to live out the rest of his life in jail. With only the company of other men. The rest of his life. That could be several decades. Day in, day out. Prison life. Doing absolutely nothing but wasting oxygen. That is a fate worse than death. Be happy that he's off the streets for crying out loud.

WTF yourself. Read the damn article:

Parole agents and local law enforcement regularly visited his home and found nothing unusual, even after a neighbor complained children were living in a complex of tents in his backyard.

FAIL

For 18 years, Phillip Garrido managed to elude detection as he pulled off what authorities are calling an unfathomable crime, kidnapping and raping 11-year-old Jaycee Dugard, keeping her as his secret captive for nearly two decades and fathering two of her children.

FAIL

Authorities acknowledged that they blew a chance three years ago to rescue Dugard from the backyard labyrinth of sheds, tents and outbuildings that were concealed from the outside world.

A neighbor called 911 in November 2006 and described Garrido as a psychotic sex addict who was living with children and had people staying in tents in his backyard.

The investigating officer spent a half-hour interviewing Garrido on his front porch but did not enter the house or search the backyard, Contra Costa County Sheriff Warren E. Rupf said. The deputy, who did not know Garrido was a registered sex offender even though the sheriff's department had the information, warned Garrido that the tents could be a code violation before leaving.

EPIC FAIL!

"We missed an opportunity to bring earlier closure to this situation," Rupf acknowledged.

NO SHIT, SHERLOCK.

It was not the only missed opportunity.

As a parolee, Garrido wore a GPS-linked ankle bracelet that tracked his every movement, met with his parole agent several times each month and was subject to routine surprise home visits and random drug and alcohol tests, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation spokesman Gordon Hinkle said.

The last unannounced visit by a team of local police agencies was conducted in July 2008. Paramedics also were summoned to the house five times since 1999, presumably to help Garrido's 88-year-old mother, who had dementia.

"There was never any indication to my knowledge that there was any sign of children living there," Hinkle said.

Neighbors knew there were children living there. Damon Robinson has lived next door to the Garridos for more than three years and his then-girlfriend in 2006 told him she saw tents in the backyard and children.

"I told her to call police. I told her to call right away," he said.

FAIL

Garrido was required to register as a sex offender because he was convicted in 1977 of kidnapping a 25-year-old woman from parking lot in South Lake Tahoe, the same town Jaycee Dugard lived in when she was snatched from a school bus stop.

Gail Powell, spokeswoman for the Nevada Department of Public Safety, said Garrido met his wife while he was serving time for the rape at the federal penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kan.

He served about 10 years of a 50-year federal sentence for kidnapping, and less than a year for a concurrent Nevada sentence of five years to life in prison for sexual assault. He was paroled in 1988, said Nevada Department of Corrections spokeswoman Suzanne Pardee.

Hinkle said the alarm raised by the neighbor who contacted the sheriff's department never were relayed to Garrido's parole agent. But there was no ban on him having contact with children, nor restrictions on his travels.

Hinkle said Garrido's parole agent was shocked Tuesday when University of California, Berkeley, police told him that the man he had been monitoring for years had been seen with two small children.

The agent, whom officials refused to name or make available for interviews, called Garrido into his office the next day. Garrido arrived with his wife, the children and a woman who initially identified herself as Allissa. She turned out to be Dugard and investigators said Garrido confessed to the kidnapping.

Monica Adams, 33, whose mother lives on their street, said she knew Phillip Garrido was a sex offender and that he had children living with him. Other neighbors knew, too, but they assumed police were keeping tabs on him.

Probyn said he was frustrated to find out that a car matching the description of the one he saw speeding Dugard away in the day she was kidnapped was found in the yard of Garrido's home. Nancy Garrido also fits the "dead-on" description he gave of the woman who pulled her into the car, he said.

"He had every break in the world," Probyn said of Garrido's close encounters with the law.

FAIL, FAIL, FAIL, FAIL, FAIL!

Our ears are not deaf, but I wonder about your ears and eyes, Purple.

Constantly seeking it out?!?!?!? It was on the cover of USA Today and highly covered by the media. It's not like Rox dug this story out from underneath a rock.

Rox has done nothing violent. Gotten good ole fashioned 'fire and brimstone" angry? Yeah, you bet. Rox was a victim of a savage crime, as was MDJ (which is the acronym I use to refer to my wife). When you see people walk away unpunished or see things like this happen to an innocent child, are we, as people, as a society, supposed to shrug our shoulders and say, "Oh Well, at least he's caught now."??? It's that anger against sin and cruelty that sparks social change combined with TRUE compassion for the victim(s), not Utopian, 'pie in the sky' idealism that looks and says, "Gee, that was bad," and walks away. If we follow how you say we should react, Purple, the Nazi's would rule Europe, and slavery would still be running amok in the US and Great Britain. After all, we shouldn't get so violently alarmed at such things, per the logic you propose.

Real change happens in the heart of people in the grass roots to make things happen. Wilberforce got angry and made his life work ridding the British Isles of slavery. Bonhoeffer got angry and worked against the Nazis in WWII. Martin Luther got angry and started the Reformation. Rosa Parks got angry and refused to give up her seat on the bus. Martin Luther King, Jr. got angry and led the civil rights marches. Change never happens if you become complacent. It's when people get angry enough at the status quo to make change happen that it occurs. My guess is, if she's not doing it already, that Rox will eventually become a leader in the victim's rights movement. And that's a good thing. Anger at sin and wrong and compassion on the victim is what makes it happen, and nobody on this site is a bigger advocate and possessor of both attributes than Rox.

And Obama got angry and ran for President. Though it might be falling apart... 😛
