What I see? I don't often envision anything when it comes to a username. I simply ponder occasionally what the person behind the name looks like.
What I think of? I have a habit of judging people slightly based on the grammar of their username, the topic of which it's based around ("NarutoFan"), the amount of numbers in their username, etc. Especially around these parts with fetish-based names and such. As far as numbers are concerned, sometimes it depends on what the numbers are and why they're there. If it's a username full of numbers only I hope it's binary for something clever 😛
I've always avoided making my usernames direct references to the point that I'm a fan of something. Same with numbers (I've only done it twice - once on PhotoBucket years ago, and once recently on YouTube for my current name 'cuz it was taken). I've simplified mine to the point that my username is now taken from my first and middle names, because even despite avoiding the above, I'd managed to come up with some toolish usernames. My previous hit or broke the character limit in some places. And was in Japanese. No use having a long non-English name no one can remember or spell.
Also add that to the seemingly growing list of username-depicts-your-intelligence items. A clearly American person using Japanese words (so typical among weeaboos if they're not already using fan-based anime names), or as I've seen one or so times, what seems to be one's name as written/pronounced by a Japanese person (one of my high school classmates whose name was Lucas went by the username "Rukasu" a few places).
I had part of the above, the Japanese words for a name. To makes my matters worse it was 3 words, with two references to two Japanese things. I thought it was clever because the words were references to two Japanese things, so it made sense for the username to be in Japanese. Two references that no one would get nor be able to spell.
Yeh, I changed for good reason. Usernames are a hassle for me.
I have noticed that people making usernames based on self-insults are either complete trolls (and why not?) or are much more intelligent than their name lets on (like Idiot a few posts up, I've seen intelligence from him numerous times).
I sometimes try not to judge but it's hard not to.
