How much interest is there in a second 2008 story contest?

Content? quality? the audience walking away learning something... as well as walking away with a... urm...

Ideas for the next contest

hmm. so are there any prizes for winning?? or just bragging rights? lol

At this time there is no prize other than an announcement thread, but I'm hoping that a producer or artist would sponsor the contests by giving something to the winner in return for the sponsor's link placed prominently in the contest thread.

My own thoughts:

I'd also like to see a rule change to explicitly allow an author to enter one of his stories posted since the last contest, rather than requiring authors to write new stories for the contest.

This idea crossed my mind too, and I will try it for the next contest to see if it works.

I think that holding the contest semi-annually is fair to all those involved. Once in the spring and once in the fall is not too much. Authors who may wish to skip one to pursue other projects won't have to wait a full year for the next contest. Writing a story for the contest isn't an obligation, but a choice.

I am leaning this way too, based on the interest in a second contest being much higher than I expected. The likely strart date for a second story contest would be in November, at the conclusion of the art contest planned for September.

Indeed. Also, it is a question of why you enter in the first place. For me, it's not the most votes. I plan on releasing my story early-on, in hopes of motivating people to write better than me. So, for me, I consider it a win if I achieve my goal: reading many great tickling stories, better than mine.

Bah! No excuse. You can do anything you set your mind to do. Popularity is fickle and what makes good reading is relative to the reader. Everybody loves the underdog you can play that angle.

Now this is one thing I'm still not quite grasping here. Are stories to be submitted specifically for the contest. I am near completion of a story that I really like. It's going to kill me to sit on this thing until November. True, it will give me months to pimp it up, but still. I was planning on wrapping it up tonight and doing some minor editing over the weekend. Well I suppose I could and just work on another idea to submit to the forum. 😕

Well most of us wrote our story some time before or barely after start of the contest... so just say to some admin about your story and put something like this in the title (Story contest November Entry)... that was the rule last time.

We will allow stories from any date after the closing of the previous contest until the closing of the next contest. As Bashiku says, just put something in the title like "November 2008 Contest Entry" and it will count 🙂

I agree with this. If people are wanting to submit non-tickling stories, they may be really good, but considering that this is a tickling-emphasized message board, there is bound to be a lot of bias toward the stories with tickling in it. Separation seems like a good idea...to be fair to those who want to submit non-tickling stories, anyway.

True stories are allowed, but minor/adult is against the major forum rules, while minor/minor would probably be pulled due to the current political environment.

It might be a good idea, but we would need to have a guaranteed number of non-tk entries to make it feasible. (In the first contest, we only got one.)
