Because this is the root of it all; TMF is a place where a lot of people who have shunned this part of themselves, or keep it under wraps, let it out and let escape all their baser needs. And reality is, tolerance of all ideas means an acceptance of tickling strangers and that.

This. Doesn't apply to everyone, of course, but pretty much hits the nail on the head there.

I feel as though a lot of people around here think they know better than anybody else. Instead of being open or looking to accept a view point, they automatically single out the person with a group of their friends with back and forth banter that somehow isn't considered offensive.

The OP either tries to present their case and gets trolled further or just clicks off the site and only comes back for the clips, if at all.

I think this is because when the forum first started, the net itself was a novelty. Nobody cared what people's fantasies were, they were all just happy that somebody out there liked tickling. Now, the world is connected. My cell phone can do things almost as well as my computer. So, now that for many years it's been established that there are people into tickling, it became time to find friends. Unfortunately for late comers or those with a bad history, they get excluded and ridiculed unless they are females, but that's a different issue that is as old as time itself.

Not all view points are acceptable.

Some of the ones put around here recently are sexual assault.

Sure, I get that. What I don't understand is trolling somebody who appears to be troubled enough already. I mean, a public cry for help comes in many forms, and making the situation worse for them, and possibly their victim, hardly seems like a mature and responsible thing to do.

Also, there are, have been and will always be the need to read between the lines from posters like that. Unless otherwise stated, they might be just typing out a fantasy they have. It's up to them to express that and all, but being mean to people just for a laugh out of a friend, and then continuing that trend, while making fun of them because you're the normal ones without these sick thoughts or whatever... that's just as fucked up. *When I say you I mean in general, not specifically you.

Despite the judgmental statements and occasional cattiness we see around here, I'd say the atmosphere as represented by the moderators is remarkably tolerant. Tolerance means being able to express yourself when you think that some practise is wrong or creepy, and being prepared to hear (if not agree with) opposing opinions. Like it or not, tolerance doesn't mean 'unconditional support.'

I personally find the 'ignore' function an expression of gross personal intolerance, but I accept it as basic quality control for the overgrown children.

I would find it 'intolerant' if threads were shut down the second any negative personal statements get thrown around, or if there were a blanket ban on any 'controversial' subject. Hell, P&R has never been shut down, and that place basically exists as this forum's answer to Arkham asylum. And I think that's awesome.

All good points. Im glad it seems like my perception is perhaps a bit distorted and not everyone is feeling the negativity I was. Maybe I need a vacation to SSF for a bit lol.
The SSF is the most tolerant place of all.
TD and GD are somewhat tolerant.
P&R is intolerant, mostly rants and flames. I have stopped posting there.
The Sports Forum is intolerant as well, but I will continue to post there, denouncing all fans of the putrid motherfucking hated jints bastards whenever they crawl out from under a rock. 😛
I voted "somewhat tolerant" as an average for the whole TMF.
I chose somewhat tolerant. The main place I see the most intolerance is P&R. From both sides. I guess that is why most of my posts are in SSF.

The best way to deal with this,or any site is,use the ignore button if people are really getting on your nerves.
Quite so, Zod. The Ignore List utility is wonderful. 😀

I think you have a misunderstanding of what an Alpha Male really is. A true Alpha Male would not even be concerned with what the habits of other males are, nor would he even be bothered to comment on them. I believe what you are referring to are garden variety self-concious males that are insecure in their sexuality and need to trow shit-balls at others to prop up their own paranoia of being inadequate. True Alpha Males do not need to stoop to these levels. 😉

Sorry C.A.B. I should had added the "twue" before the "alpha."

Somewhat tolerant, though it depends upon the person and the discussion

People here are about as tolerant as elsewhere on the net.
Some confuse acknowledging the right for someone to have and express an opinion with accepting all opinions as legitimate. If you express something on a forum people should, and usually do, respect your right to express your idea but no one is obligated to accept said idea as legitimate if they think otherwise.
Just because you or I or anyone writes something doesn't mean blank acceptance.
The error comes when the criticism becomes personal. Then it is not the idea being discussed but the person.
Fortunately the moderators work hard to catch that stuff. And there is always ignore.

Honestly.. I chose not tolerant.

While I haven't done so in recent times, and have learned to keep my personal life either off forum.., or restricted to my blog.. I've seen over my years here that whether its me, or someone else.. who is having a bad day, etc, if they post anything controversial, they get jumped on, and the flames begin,. Same holds true if people have differing opinions on the P and R.

In general.. I feel that many arguments and flames which happen on this forum.. could be solved by doing one of two things. Either.. 1. Expressing one's opinion in a civil manner, while sticking to the topic at hand, and not engaging in a personal flame. or.. 2. Simply bypassing the thread, and not commenting, which would quash any chance of long, flaming threads developing.

I've only been here a short time and mostly have stayed in the tickling or general discussion areas and not the other forums, so I can't really say, but I voted somewhat tolerant. Just based on what I've seen, I don't think people are being any different here. I've always been a forum junkie. I'm probably a member of 50+ forums and have over a dozen than I'm active on more than here.

I think it's just that the main purpose of this forum is of a sexual nature, and sexuality in general is a touchy subject. Just because we all have some form of a shared turn on, there are many variations within the fetish, and that leads to people thinking some things are "creepy" when they are outside their personal comfort zone. The fact that the fetish also sometimes involves things like feet, bondage, non-consensual touch or even forms of torture will naturally lead to healthy debate between members who have strong opinions about these things.

I don't go into the politics forum but I'd think you'd have to expect the same thing there. I hate politics, personally. I feel like people who choose to discuss politics want to argue and debate, which is fine, if they enjoy it. But I've yet to see a political forum that didn't have insane flame wars.

People are just as heated and nasty to each other on a spiritual-based forum I'm on. God...sex... politics... people have strong feelings over these things and that's all it is.

I do not understand what that means in the context of what I posted to you. Sorry.

It's a joke.
Here is an explanation from the Urban Dictionary and here is the link if you would like http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=twue

1. twue

In the BDSM community, many people have fixed ideas about how a dominant or submissive should behave and attempt to inflict their opinions on others. They disparage others by saying "if you were a true dom you'd do x". The others in turn disparage them by calling them "twue" (a supposedly effeminate version of "true"). Also spelt "twoo" and "tw00".

"Joe told me I wasn't a proper sub because I wouldn't do what he wanted - even though it was revcolting"
"Don't worry about Joe. He's a twue dom and a twue asshole".

...and attempt to inflict their opinions on others.

Now THAT is funny! LOL! "Oh help! help! Some meany has an opinion and they tried to inflict it on me in their post! I am a twue victim of a random internet opinion!"

LOL! @ Inflict.

By the logic of your joke, you could apply it to anyone's opinion or post. Kinda makes it all moot. It's waste of time to go down that old sing-song road of, "I don't like what you said so I feel victimized by it." Because with skin that thin, why bother being involved on any forum at all.

It's tolerant enough that I lurked constantly for years during a little more communal era, through the changes of gatherings and Fetlife and when I finally took the plunge mentally to engage with gusto, any intolerance of the modern version of the forum did not stop me.

It's a welcoming place if you're approaching it with the right tude. If you're looking for trouble (regardless of your thing), it's going to come across that way loud and clear. Fetishes do not disturb me. Folks who only come here to bait people into arguments and do the neener neener thing is what disturbs me, but you have that in every corner on the internet. It's so difficult to know what you're dealing with in any given discussion. You could have one mentally sick individual with multiple accounts, arguing against him/herself manipulating things because THAT is their biggest thrill.

Even when you run into something you dislike on here, most of the time the thing to do is let it be. Use your time wisely on here on what brought you here in the first place, figure out who's interested in being friendly and enjoy. This place could use more enthusiasm and participation than friction.

I'm not sure how to vote because each option is accurate to a degree in many people on the forum

I like the newest crop of posters these days.

Most of the douches seem to pretty much be gone now. Posting occasionally. But mostly coming back here every now and again and posting with their fucking sock puppets because they don't have the goddam guts to actually mix it up in person (by that, I mean, using their own username).

Though I don't post here often, I like the new atmosphere.

Provided the douches stay in their cages. I'm getting sick of that fucking hit-and-run bullshit.

I think that in a moderated environment it's tough to gauge how tolerant this community of people truly is, because the rules enforce tolerance to a significant extent. That's not a bad thing because it makes the forum considerably more attractive to those browsing by.

The only intolerance I see that's tolerated by the mods would be when certain people take it upon themselves to decide for the rest of us what is the good and correct way for us tickle folk to operate out in the real world; then show extreme intolerance for those not on board with their stone tablet commandments.

I've seen boards where the behavior is a helluva lot worse than on here, so as far as I'm concerned we're a pretty darned tolerant, well-behaved crowd. Yay us!

Congrats Annie on creating a topic that made CAB post a serious comment. lol.

I think this place is pretty damn tolerant so i picked the top option. Of course there are going to be flames in the P&R forum wich was why it was originally created to keep all of that out of GD. Just as SSF was created because vorpal bunnies and the "self referential thread" type stuff was bumping all serious discussion down too far to see in GD. The one place i feel the forum is not very tolerant is the VidClip corner. It never fails that one asshole posts on every clip how horrible it is for one reason or another. This has always bothered me bc the people took their time to create vids for our enojoyment and they have to bitch. If you don't like it move on and fap it to something else.

With all of that being said I love this place. Always have and always will. Before I joined I thought I was alone in my tickle fetish. Of course, that was before there was kink EVERYWHERE on the net, and this place really made me feel at home. I think knowing someone else enjoyed tickling as much as i did made me more confident in pursuing my fetish in the real world bc i knew it wasn't "wierd" like i thought to begine with. Anyway, ill shut up now.
