How Would You Handle This..

I have to laugh again.

Yesterday afternoon, when I was going to the supermarket, guess who I ran into again for the second time this week? Barney!'

I was furious when I saw him.


He had been blowing me off, not emailing or calling.

I specifically asked him if he wanted a 20 plus year friendship to end, and he said no.

We started walking, and we decided to go out to dinner.

It turns out.. there may be a partial explanation for his not being in touch with me, that I didnt know about until yesterday.

He met a woman

Had I known this.. I wouldnt have been upset about his not being in touch with me.

He also travels a lot for work.

And..

He's likely moving into the city.

So.. the bottom line is.. I probably wont be seeing him as often as in the past.

Now that I know the reason (s),and circumstances, I'm not angry.

He also seemed to get it, finally, about the bragging.

I was with him, for a long time last night, and he didnt brag once.

So.. I guess I have to accept that it may well settle into a circumstance where I dont see or talk to him as much.

I would like.. not to have to end another 20 year friendship.

If I'm in touch with him.. sometimes. and he doesnt brag. I can deal with that.

I think.. it is/was the bragging that upset me most.

Just wanted to post an update to this.

Glad you were able to figure it out. It's probably for the best that you won't see him too much. I really think it would do you some good to keep your distance. But that's me. Good luck either way.

I appreciate that you said you were glad that I could figure it out.

I also agree that it's best I keep my distance from Barney.

I wont be seeing him much.

As I said before, he travels, and is moving.

Someone I know says.

"There are relationships, and there are relationships".

With Barney, it will probably be the latter.

I read this a few hours ago and gave it some thought.

It sounds about like what happened to me with my now ex-friend, except my friend would listen to me, but only to go and tell my secrets to other people.

I don't know if it will be the same in your case, but after I dropped him as a friend I felt a lot better.

I do miss being friends with him sometimes, but then I remember what kind of person he was, and the missing feeling vades.

Thanks, gamer, sorry you had to drop your friend of long standing, I know how that is.

I dont want to drop him, but, he does things that are so completely annoying, showing that he only thinks about himself.

He's the type, who will be arrogant if something goes well for him, and will put others hopes and dreams down.
